As I live in Derbyshire, not far from the peak district, I am obviously spoilt for good places to ride. Where else do you recommend?
too many places around there, love it up in the peak district, could spend all summer down there. just go exploring with no real direction, choose the roads as you go, its what I tend to do and ive ended up in some bloody good places.
That's what I used to do...tell my wife I had to go somewhere then just ride off...picking my turns by the look of them! Can't wait to do it again. Got to do the snake pass...never got to do that before (bike broke on me)
snake pass. LOVE IT. really nice one to do with a group. especially when your riding a triumph tiger 800 lost count of how many times ive gone up there just to ride snake pass. last time we went though the road got closed because of a accident just past the little burger van in the layby parking area which saw the road closed 7 hours. theres the "big loop" ive done twice. from bakewell, get onto the a619, left onto hassop road, follow that main road upto calver, left onto the A623 through stoney middleton, B6521 into eyam, get onto church st, follow through to main rd, follow that through foolow and great hucklow, right onto the b6049 through bradwell, left at the end and go through hope and in castleton theres peveril castle, that's nice to stop and look at. or in hope you can turn right onto the edale rd and follow that round, that's one hell of a nice road to ride on, lots of curves in it. at the end of edale rd (same as the rd with peveril castle on) follow the Sheffield rd down into chapel-en-le-frith, couple of interesting things there but not much, still nice to ride through, go down the machester road and youll come to the a5004 go left down there and you've got long hill, very interesting to ride, made my arse twitch a few times. ride that into buxton and find your way onto the A6 ride that all the way back to bakewell. tiring to ride but some bloody good views along the way.
As soon as I'm legal...I'm on it! (Or maybe before see if I can resist!) Twitching as I type. Surely there'd be no police around at this time!
wait until your legal. not worth the risk. get caught and you loose your wheels and get left in the middle of nowhere. is it really worth it? btw lots of police out and about at this time. they like to find the ones who have the balls to ride those roads at night racing. how do I know? got pulled at 3am by three cars riding 2 up on the way back down to Birmingham, they thought I was going to floor it and I could of but wasn't worth it. got told off for going 5mph over limit and let on my way. don't risk it. get legal and youll enjoy it all without shitting yourself every corner thinking what if theres a copper around that corner. the fuckers are everywhere around there with nothing to do but pick on people on two wheels use your noggin, don't make the wrong decision.
Will wait...for now anyway! Went out the other day & was buzzing all the way there n' back. Maybe the excitement of not being legal added to it, but my wife would go mental if I got pulled. Just got to contain myself for now. I hate pedalling to work (4miles) knowing there's a good chance I could get away with it...especially where I live, using all the back streets.
