I'm selling my Yamaha Neos for around 500-600 pound and I was wondering what the best geared 50 would be for me to start out on and get used to gears, I want an RS50 however I don't think I'll get one for so cheap and I don't have any extra money, any ideas?

just keep looking RS50's come up every now and again for cheap enough. just be open to an older model. a friend of mine got his in repsol colours for about 450 quid hes had it nearly a year with no problems. Theres always derbi aswell i hear they are pretty . just keep hunting and dont forget the bike bit of autotrader loads of bikes you wouldnt think of on there :good:

Thanks for the reply, there's someone selling a Derbi Senda for 300 but his phone is constantly off, I'd prefer the older model RS50 as the restriction laws weren't as strict so the engines are more powerful

The engine is the same in the old Rs50 as the new one.

It's not. the older models have a Minarelli AM6 engine the newer ones have a D50B0.

the newer ones look soo much nicer though. still the fastest standard 50 once derestricted and i think you can still get big bore kits and stuff for them if you need even more speed

It's just getting one, I may have my hands on a Yamaha TZR50 which uses the AM6 as well, but the side fairings are missing so I may need to get a respray if I can get hold of some.

respray it yourself. Its easier than you think aslong as you take your time and are careful.

spend time on spraying. itll only ever look as good as the amount of effort you put in.
