    Hello Guys,

Just wondering if anyone reckons this is a good deal.

Basically, the crank has gone on my Yamaha Neos 50 02 Reg with 16k Miles.
Thread for the nut has gone, splines are in awful condition etc, starter doesn't work because the plate is loose due to the crank.

Bike is very clean though, i've kept it in good condition and it does have a sports exhaust less than 6 months old.

However, for my bike and £100 have been offered a Piaggio Typhoon 50 which is a couple of years older than my Neos, with a years MOT, fully working etc.

    Worth doing?

I know that strictly speaking its a matter of personal likes/dislike..

But what experience have people had with peds (piaggios) of this age? R reg is a good age now, and i havent owned something so old before...

Is a well maintained one generally okay? is there a significant loss in speed / acceleration when a 50cc gets to this age?

Yea mate a well looked after one will be fine. Theres still 40 year old vespas and lambretta's knocking about...

And yea an old tired engine will be slower, but again if its been looked after, if the topend is in good nick then it should be fine.

ddated just meansd your used to seing lots of them about, and have done for prittymuch most of your life... they have been about since i was at school, and i dont mean leaving year) its like anything ay. you ether like it or you dont. mk1 escorts look dated, doesent stop people who like them paying 6 grand+ for a decent one.

its just early 90's desighn... 80's angles wiht some 90's curves/cuts... its gonna look dated as fuck in another 15 years, but i still wont be able to look at one wihtout thinkin "fuck thas a sexy lookin bike" but hey, thas just me. all this new stuff is a sheer imitation of what the typhoon was all about (well, not exactly, it was all to do wiht the boosters and bw's people already modded that the typh was desighned to replace) this is why i love em, its the FIRST scooter that was desighned specificly to be messed about wiht and generally abused/wheelied/stoppied/slid down a road wiht minimal damage (who's ever really done more than 3 pannel edges comming off a typh and not hitting anything?) its the first hooligan scoot... if you a b road terrorist you know exactly what im talkin about :D

but ye. think of them as marmite.... love em or hate em, there gonna be everywhere, as they have been, for as long as you can remember, and for alot longer im sure.
