gilrea runner 125cc sp 2002 started but wont now start ??

hello i just got this runner wnt to get started it even tho had no petty in bt went home put nearly a full tank in there it started but then wouldnt the wnet to but didnt then my nabor messed with this screw on the car and now wont start at alli looked at the spark plug not that carbs loetting feul in so wat could it be and if it the screw on the carb how tight or lose should it be and i took my throttle cable out but now that dont feel like it did before so any help will be help full

I cant really understand what you said to be honest, if the "screw" is the idle timer, perhaps your neighbour has turned it down so low it cant tick over properly?

sorry mate im just buzzing cuz if i get it sorted its worth alot what im saying it there a black screw on the carb and i think that the problem but im not sure it was working before i got it even tho it had no petty got it home then i put petty in wouldnt start left for a while then came back nearly did then ma mate messed with that screw now wont but i had it tight as it will go and it nearly did so i anit got a clue?? someone told me it was to do with the reed?

i have done all the standard check like spark plag air going in fuel goin in so i dont understand?

are you referring to the idle mixture screw (small screw you turn with a screw driver)

or the slide/tickover screw (larger one usually with a knurled outer you can turn by hand) ??

thats your slide adjuster, if its screwed all the way in there probably isnt enough air going through your carb to start up...

im confused now i had a word with a guy at the garage and he said its a tick over screw ??

but i wnet out this moring and put then screw all the way tight and it nearly started and then put it two and half turns out and it strted then went dead and then didnt start ??? but this bloke said the carb and all that could be block since it was sat out side for a month or so ??

just a different name for the same thing really, whip your air filter off and turn it while you watch the slide...youll find it moves up and down as you turn the screw

and yes maybe the carb is blocked or dirty inside...

o is this worth 60 pounds ?? i rang this garage and asked if he will try and find the problem and tighten my back wheel up to the right tightness (cuz i took it off to put my elec start on) make sure the elec start is on properly and clean the carb he said it will take bout 2 n half hours??

nah you can do the rest of that yourself....just have him take a look at the carb. if he knows what it is then pay him to fix it

erm i would think thats the sort of prices a shop would be charging ...if i was you i wouldn't give up just yet as it doesn't seem youve tried much but if you want it fixed fast and headache free lol ..then the garage it is...
your definate the carbs letting fuel in and operating as it should??
but i would say before you take it to them atleast check your jets aren't blocked or partially blocked as it's simple to do and could be the/one of your problem/s

undo the float bowl
there SHOULD be petrol leaking once you start to undo the screws...
unscrew the jets and hold them up to light make sure you can see through them..if not blow through them or blow them out with brake cleaner/carb cleaner put it back together and try again.

oh yeah for your throttle cable problem just use the screw on the top of the carb where the throttle cable connects to the carb elbow either tighten or loosen it just take your airbox or air filter off and make sure the slide is seated properly and theres a couple mm of play when you pull the throttle i.e. you shouldnt feel resistance as soon as you touch thte throttle should be a bit of play on the throttle... orrrrrr do you mean it doesn't spring back when you pull it back??? if so you havent connected the cable on the slide properly...

well i dont mind striping it ill do it if gonna save me money but i need it to go in for other things too like the back wheel and all that but if i knew some with the tools ill go and get a manual and try and sort ito forgot to metion there petrol going into the cyclinder cuz i took the plug out and used the elec start and could smell it in there. also the throttle it does twist back it not hardley got any resitance to it like it did before ma mate took it out ma old 1991 peoguet st rapido (aka hond meldoy i know lol only cost 100 tho not bad for frist bike ) has alot more that my gilrea.

but that screw is the thing and i think the plug need gapping also be a problem so it not that i wont or cnat be bother i dont have the tools i only have sockect some spanners and screw dirve the box stadard stuff so unless u lot live in hull and got some that i can use ?

as i said before mate the carb thing has to be on the bike to sort its what stoping it from starting so i know what ill do ill take some pic of the bike and what i think the probs is so give a better clue ??

maybe be better off??
