Theres possibly a few people on here from SWF? So some of you probably already know who I am. Im Ben, im 19 now and Ride a CBR400 NC29.

"Back in the day" I had 4 Speedfights. 3 Speedfight IIs and a Speedfight I. 2 of which were just stock 50cc derestricted scooters.

I had a 50cc Speedfight which I put a 100cc Lump in it, Put a 50cc Pipe and modified 50cc Air box on. That was my sleeper. :p

And then I had the Speedfight I which was an all out Malossi 70cc animal. Which I miss! :(
Unfortunately the guy I sold it to wrote it off at 70mph within 2 weeks of buying it off me. Grr.

    Anyway, heres the speedfight.

Right thats my little intro out of the way. The reason Im here is because Ive got a Gillera ICE sat in my garage doing nothing. At the moment its just got a Leo Vince ZX pipe bolted to it. and its slow as dog Sh!t. My plan is to put a 2t 125 Runner/Drag rear end into it. Ive got no problems mounting the Rad or upgrading the brakes. I just want to know if its a bolt in job putting the lump in. If not, What is needed to be done to the ICE frame to make a 125 Rear end Fit?

    Any help much appreciated.

Bearing in mind I can MIG Weld, have no problems engineering sub frames etc to fit the engine. I was just hoping there would be an easy route? Worth checking first.

    Cheers

    Typh 172 Air cooled? :msn1:

Sounds cool but I think id rather have a Liquid cooled motor. I need to sum up the pros and cons really of the whole thing. Its not even "off the ground" yet. The Scooter was originally bought for my sister but shes wants something with some under seat storage so she can get her Course work in etc for school. So im probably going to buy her a Speedfight, That was I know it inside out and can do any repairs etc for her.

So how tunable is a Air cooled 125 Typhoon engine? Can it be 172? How reliable will it be?

And who's got one, And whats one going to cost me?

just as tuneable as a l.c. yeh it can be 172. have seen a couple of typhoon 125 engines on ebay for around £140-£150 i was thinking about it. these a typhoon 172 with 30+hp. he was selling it forgot who it was tho. oh and it probs wont be as reliable as a l.c but it just gona be a weekend bike am guessing. lol

Air cooled max out at about 30-35bhp. Reliability is out the window but it's also out the window with a LC engine at 30-35bhp.

A 172 AC will be as reliable as a 172 LC engine. Probably even more reliable as you wont have any problems with the cooling parts failing.

    To fit a 125 engine...

The only slightly tricky bit of the whole lot is modding the wiring loom.

Wiring isnt a problem either. I will probably just 172 it and then leave it. Ive heard that the 172s are more reliable than the 125s? For the time being even a stock 125 will do.

Ive just been out on the Zip as it happens. Got some Knee down videos of me in Ebbsfleet. :)
    Shall upload them later.

Its going to be a stunt bike rather than a weekend bike. I started stunting my CBR and it ended quite erm, Nasty and expensive. If I bin the ZIP it will cost me about £15 for a new set of pannels. :p

Shall have to keep my eye out for a 125 2t typhoon which has been written off or something. And pinch the loom and lump.

If you talk to waynder binge (i know i directed you here in the first place)
He would say air cooled is the way to go, especially if your stunting.
It's less shit to go wrong :)

I think what ill do is keep my eye open for a 125 Typh which is either written off, Or just a rear end out of one. And lob that in for the time being. 125 2stroke will have enough power to hold a wheelie up.

I was standing on the seat today wheelieing it. but its not really got any mid range power to keep the front up.

I got 70kmh out of it today on the flat though, Whatever that works out at. :confused:arc:

    Its a tidy little scooter.

isnt all about power mate 3/4 of it is about technique people can wheelie standard 50 for miles. all about practice keep tryin and it will soon come. jus keep the rear brake covered. looks a very tidy bike.

to fit a 125 ac engine into ya ice you need to do a bit of grinding on the engine mounts, like 5mm off each side but minor will be able to explain?

also you need to mod a 125cc wiring loom as the 50 wiring cant handle the ampage :nerd:

I know 50cc scooters are wheelie`able. Ive been there and done it for the past 3 years.
I just cant be arsed yanking on the bars and putting all my weight into my feet on the pillion seat to get the front up, and then high enough to balance. Id just rather have a more powerful engine so it will pull up easier.

Plus, its a drum on the rear, and it is Shocking! Really bad. So once its 125`d, it will be disk!

my local shop did a ice 180, my mate that works their brough it and did the wiring, il ask him what he had to do and take some pictures but he said it was a bastard the engines in there nice made it look really really tidy got a 59 on there aswell (snaped 3 times lol) and a spring from the engine to the frame other wise it vibrated like a mofo il try and get some pictures of it either tommorow or the day after and post it up.

Sounds cool. I want to chuck 12 or 13" wheels on this thing too. The fork seals are on their way out on the front, so I'm probably going to bung some runner forks on there anyway. and a set of Runner wheels.

My mates just rang me who took the video of me today so it will be uploaded in an hour or so. :)

The other great thing about the ICE for a stunter is that its pretty much in in-destructible. You can clearly see its been down the road on both sides because of the brake levers and the foot pegs. But all the panels are un marked. Great big crash bungs on the back too.

Right, Got the video of me on the Ped Riding it properly.

Sorry its a bit "un flowing", On the CBR I usually dont lap the roundabout, and I get a left knee down on entry to the roundabout too. But that was my first attempt on the Ice.
