hi all i have just bought a gilera stalker on a 04 plate it has the 20.5 dellorto carb with an enclosed k&n fitted and a seven sports exhaust now im not sure if the rollers have been changed or the washer has been removed from behind the front pully. when i start the bike up from cold it revs fine i then set off and it pulls perfect for about 15 seconds then it just bogs down so i have to let go of the revs so it go's back to tick over i try to set off using full revs and it just bogs down i have been told i need to upjet to a 76 or 78 as its currently 72 but i have seen a topic in which minor has said it to be the rollers would i be best off getting new jet's and rollers and fit them together ?? if so would anybody recommend what i should use ?? i am also after some parts for my stalker so if anybody is breaking 1 or selling any bits please message me thanks in advance matt.s :thumbsup:
Is it 50cc or has it been converted to a 125cc? Because the dellorto 20.5mm carb is a 125 carb. Sounds like your engine is running lean, jetting is most likely way off, im unsure roughly what jet you need for your carb, but start with say a 120jet, and down jet untill it runs better. Always start with a stupidly big mainjet, and downjet 2 sizes at a time untill it runs better.
my stalker is 50cc can you recommend a place on the internet to buy jets and some rollers going to get some and fit them this weekend.
If your going to do the work yourself, then take a peek in the links section on here, theres a few links to good tuning shops, although you should be able to source rollers & jets from a local shop. If you getting a shop to do it, then dont buy any parts. Take the bike in, tell them what modifications are on your engine and tell them whats wrong with it. Then leave it to them to fuck about with trying different rollers and jets & if they cant fix it your entitled to a refund.
cheers for the advice bertie just orderd a pack of jets and rollers off scooter attack will let you no off the results when i have fitted and tested it.
i was in blackburn today so i visited philip youles motorcycles and asked if he ad any jets for my 20.5 dellorto carb he said he did only thing was i was in blackburn for a diffrent reason so i didnt take my jet but being a trusted gilera dealer i thought they knew there stuff so i asked him if they would fit the carb he said yes even though i argued the point when i so the screen on the till saying keihin jet's...................by the way they didnt fit im totally stupid for buying them my spark plug has now fouled and my battery has gone flat i feel like laying it down in the garden and having a 200 pound bonfire has anybody else had the same feeling with there ped ???? and should i rip it apart and start a project with my stalker havnt got much info about them.......... also the kick start just flops about havnt taken the casing off too have a look inside but no doubt it will be fucked knowing my luck.....................
You need to really learn how to fix the bike yourself, get your head down and study hard for a week then attack the ped with spanners, hammers and new performance goodies once you know what your doing! A shop will never get your bike running well, as its not standard. You only need malossi rollers to confuse a shop, one tiny mod on your engine & they dont have a clue.. Theres very few proper tuning shops in the UK who could actually fix it for you. The jet they fitted was probably too big, running too rich and fouling the spark plug, and Im guessing youve run the battery flat trying to start it with a dead plug? If you really want it running just convert back to standard, get the standard 17.5mm carb on there, stock pipe and stock transmission setup. Good luck!
well new spark plug and and 6mm jets are on their way from pm tuning (great shop) going to have a fiddle saturday will update then............nice 1 bertie
my bike's running now i can get nearly 55 downhill but struggle to get 30 up a hill....... its currently got an 80 in but the original jet was a 72. front fork's are nearly stuck solid so i now need to have a look at them........ my light's wont turn off it constantly look's like im braking im thinking it may be dodgy relay.........
