whats the best ways to get my friend skp 50 going faster and accelerating quicker but without a 70 kit it has a polini belt tt pipe and rollers with springs but he wants to buy a gear up even though i told him his acceleration would be shite. any ideas what would be the most effective way to get him accelerating quiker and having a better top speed? carb? it already has a clock speed of 70.

70 kit im sorry to say. Its not gonna go much faster without one. A 21mm carb will probably drown the standard 50 just get a sport 70 kit.

he was thinking a 17.5 carb, carbon reeds and block with bigger inlet-manifold

the standard carb on a it is a 17.5 he could get it upjetted to suit a k&n or sponge filter, it will work out cheaper and give a bit more power

Not on piaggio/gillys, on some vespa's they have 12mm carbs but my et2 had a 17.5

And fitting a open filter and upjetting to suit wont make more power, ive done it on my zip and ive lost bottom end power and topend speed is the same. Fuel consumpsion on the otherhand has increased ALOT. Probably getting like 20mpg.

lol i keep telling him to buy a 70s kit but he think he'l get in trouble with the police lol
dont know how they'l find out but you'l only get in the same shit as having a de-restricted 50.

You can discise a 70kit to look like a standard 50 cylinder anyway, by grinding off the mallossi signs and spraying it black. This should fool any police, and some mot inspectors may not notice either. My local mot station fails any bike with a bore up kit.

So they should fail the mot's. Theres a reason why U25's insurance is always higher than someone 25 plus....
