hey guys ive recently got my bike (gilera runner sp50 - 07 plate ) back frm the garage, its been serviced and had a few things replaced, whilst they were at it i got them to fit my Yasuni Z exhaust and remove the restrictors etc, got it back nd they told me ive got a little bit of a flat spot, its pissing me off, get to 30 ish and it jst hits the flat spot then jumps up again into accellerating, its making my ride feel shit, doesent feel smooth enough for my likeing. it had new rollers fitted and tht when it was set up, but i dont want this flat spot! i cant afford to take it back to shop as ive spent way too much there, more than i wanted to spend in the first place. i have read the roller guide but id like some advice on this should i try a size lighter rollers? i cant deal riding it feelin crap lol!
If it gets to about 20mph and the revs drop off until about 30-35 ish your rollers are a tad too heavy (assuming of course that the rest of the bike is running as it should). without listening to the engine rev up as you accelerate its hard to estimate what weight you need, i would suggest buying 2 or 3 sets 1g less and 2g less than what you have and trying those, remember you can mix 3 of one weight and 3 of another (although you do end up with uneven roller wear)
ill give it a shot need to grab myself an impact wrench too i dont fancy bodging it nd damaging my vari now, that wud b all i need! i jst dont get why the garage tell me i got a flat spot nd didnt sort it out, it was a gilera dealer too. cunts lol!
most of the scooter dealers around the country don't fully understand how the CVT works OR can't be bothered to chop and change rollers until they get it right. Unfortunately they fit parts and thats about as far as it goes.
same old story... dealers are NOT tunners, there mechanics... mechanicds know how to set bikes up (they read the manual and replace whatevers wrong) you cant expect them to ever rerally understand how somthing works, they only have to know how it go's together (wich any monkey can do) theres a HUGE difference between a tunner and a mechanic... a tunner can do a mechanics job but a mechanic can only fuck up at a tunners job
typical, but bang on nevermind, ill be investing in an impact wrench first off, see wht rollers i got nd get 2 sets each 1grm lighter like wobbly said there to save opening a new thread about it, how much should i be budgeting for sprayin my whole bike (primer paint laquer) nice one for all the help on here guys ive needed it haha
erm, dont you DARE spray that bike.. its new.. if you wanted to paint a bike why not save 600 quid on a new bike and buy somthing wiht shit paint? i dont get people that fuck new bikes (by fuck up i mean replacing perfectly good paint with a home spray job done by somone who doesent even know how much the paint is gonna cost let alone how to get a good finnish) no offence... it looks good, your painting it for the sake of it, not because the paint looks shit.. as for modding the bike, i really dont see why you bought a new bike when your replacing everything. could have bought a 200 quid basket case, done the engine, painted the pans and been done. just to answer the question, you will need 2/3 cans of primer minimum (this is going on no repairs to the pannels so no filer or high build primer) 4 or 5 cans of colour, the same in clear (fuel resistant) and probably 5 odd sheets each of 180/240/400/800/1200/2000 grit wet and dry.... so your looking at over 70 quid to paint it properly and get a good finnish like the one already on there... thats wihtout a new sticker set....(bikes wiht NO stiuckers look unfinnished)
the reason i want to spray it is because its not in perfect condition, it was, til some dick slammed their brakes on infront of me (decided they wanted to turn right, but didnt decide to indicate or slow down first) nd i got thrown off, it looks like this (after havin new belly pan and right rear pan) http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5749/dsc0173p.jpg[img] [img]http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/7840/dsc0174m.jpg i want to get it looking nice again, thats all
well, if your not changing colour and going for flat white its a can of primer, some paper and a can of colour, no need for clear. new stickers to cover the new paint and it will look like new.. far better option really... the cost of a sticker set tho is probably more than a second hand pannel? worth just pricing the broken/skuffed bits? image's dont work btw
images now fixed im not sure if they show but the front panel has some scratches up front nd on side (its also broken one of the inside brackets for holdin it on but this isnt bad) rear left panel has scrape on it belly pan is unpainted as of yet handles need repainting, sticker set is around 90 quid i found on the gileraspares site
ok.... so you have a few options... ether find a set of complete pannels on ebay and replace the lot... paint what's missing and replace the stickers or remove all the stickers, go wiht another colour and use a diff sticker set/custom stikers.. it is a shame such a new bike has so much damage and it would be best for you and the bike to keep it original,, if however this is less cost effective than a complete respray and a set of custom stickers then its the only option.. its only worth keeping fresh if it is already fresh.. same as theres no point risking a good paintjob just coz you fancy a change.. altho yes this is probably due some tlc and a new lease of life paintwise.. do your research into painting it (not just on here) theres a wealth of knowledge on paints and paint is the sort of thing you can fuck up easily but you can never read/learn enough about. its not impossible to get a good finnish wiht home spray jobs, its not easy tho and takes more than just trying it out.
ive spent a bit of time readin up nd keep on learnin bout it on internet as much as i cn, it was a real bummr for me when it happened cuz before the bike was MINT (as it shud be for n 07 plate) im going to keep reading up nd try work out whats best to do, i did think maybe trying to respray it black nd red or something but that isnt decided, i just fed up of it looking rubbish im jst makin sure i dnt rush no decisions, because like u said i dont want to make it look worse, and also i dont want it to look tacky
black is a hard colour to be trying out first off... be wary of certian paints as aslot you cant just jump in wiht t cut/compound's a day after painting.. it wont look shiny out of the can, it needs wet sanding wich means the paint needs to go on evenly/properly adhere and be on a perfectly flat surface. shine comes from the polishing not the putting on.
i understand about the flat sanding and stuff after reading the guide on here and looking at similar guides via google, still learning but im taking in as much as i can. any colour suggestions? still not completely decided what to do, got a few little ideas at the minuite, im not wantin to paint the inners given the fact the paint will crack etc. thinking at the min i may go for a 2 colour scheme on the currently white panels (and silver side panels) , leave inners, get some nice stickers on there but nothing too much keeping it looking neat nd then go from there, but unsure about what colours to go with as of yet, i like the idea of keeping it looking fairly standard but perhaps a metallic or something ...?
dont even try metalic for your first go at painting.. takes extra care/more attention when you put it on aswell as clear coat to protect the paint/get any kind of decent shine.. the colour is completly up to you, just change the base colour (the white) for whatever you like but try to mimik the original paint... first off tho trace out your stickers and get them priced up at a custom vinyl place.. must be cheaper than 90 quid on an original set... or get to drawing somthing else.. doesent have to be complicated to look good, the stickers on your bike are only a few lines afterall.. but ye, flat colours.. anything you like, but id avoid metalics tbh
