Right, i rarely ask for help so hopefully ill get a bit now  ive swapped my zip for a 04 runner 70, which doesent run. so far its got a spark. its got bloody good compression, fuel is getting to the carb but stil no starting. so....i took the head off to check the barrel. which was fine. not a single mark on it. however i never inspected the actual piston, as i assumed if the piston was defective it would have scored the cylidner or damaged it in some way.so yeah replaced the head, replaced the reedblock with new reeds aswell and put the standard carb from my sr125 on. it turns over fine, and fuel is getting to the carb, however when i poured abit of petrol into the spark plug hole it still didnt start. its had a new spark plug but i think ill try a new one just to be sure, also its using a 125 ht cap by the looks of it? unless the post 03 bikes have these ht caps., anyway . anyhelp will be much apreciated, and for whoever gets the problem right gets their very own copy of a video of my ex sucking me off. :nerd: cheers everyone
ok jamie, 1st of all for a stubborn to start engine use the kick start, eleccy starts are feeble....1 of the reasons i binned mine you may be getting a spark, but is it a strong or weak spark??? whip the right hand side plastic stator cover off and take the fly wheel off.... rough up all the metal parts in the stator with wet and dry paper, especially the sensor bit, as these can corrode up after time from condensation causing a weak spark also pop to halfrauds or any good accesories shop and get a can of Easy start, i swear by the stuff, i always carry a can under my seat if as you say youve got compression, spark, air and fuel it should fire up!!
Right, cheers for the help dave, ive stripped the topend again this time looking at the piston and this is what i found.... sorry about the blurry pic but its pretty much fucked! its scored down one side and the rings are melted in at one part the cylinder is MINT! though. so i think ill get away with just a piston and rings.? can anyone confirm to me that this is why it wasnt starting even though it had alot of compression? cheers for the help...
if the rings are stuck in the ring lands then they are fooked m8 The piston always takes the hit 1st before the bore, so yes a new piston and rings should do it as long as the bore looks ok
same thing happened with the sr when it fucked, had loads of compression but look at the state the piston was in :msn1:
nah man im still chuffed with this runner. for once ive got a bike where EVERYTHING works.....except the engine. electrics etc. engine will be sweet soon :nerd:
New piston arrived. and its the wrong one. according to the seller it was a 48 m/ diameter 70cc malossi piston. and the picture was of a double ringed one, but it was a single ringed one and didnt even fit in my malossi sport kit :rtfm: im thinking it might save alot of hassel to just buy a new topend
where did you get it from ?beedspeed did the exact same thing to me , they sent me a 4 stroke piston for my aerox lol , and also some ebay shop sent me then wrong size small end bearing as well, most of the people on ebay have no idea what theyre talking about
