Hey everyone, wanted to ask a quick question. You all have probably seen the new Audi cars driving around with those neat LED strips on the headlights so I wanted to know is it possible to do it with my Gilera Runner 2002 SP headlight block? Can I disassemble the front glass, and just glue the LED's or is there some other tutorial?
DRL kits (day running lights) can be bought for cars in the form of a rubberised strip thats cut to length an stuck in place, you could use one of these kits, splitting any headlight is straight forward but putting it back together with a good enough seal so damp doesnt get in the unit can sometimes be a challenge, U-Pol is quite good a sealing gaps In my opinion anything apart from an Audi with DRL strips fitted looks a bit odd, but thats upto you also come mot time the tester may depending on there placement be a bit iffy about them
Thanks for the info Todi-Corsa . I'm thinking of doing some DIY stuff, who knows how that will end up
No probs, theres a link under this to some, have a look on ebay lots of diffrent styles, volts patterns etc.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bright-Wh...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43afd16df5
I got the same ones, only blue So I'm thinking of glueing them to the inner glass part, cause drilling the whole reflector thingy seems dangerous.
Personally I think it would be better to stick them under the headlight on the fairing itself, saves chance of knackering a good headlight, and also If you get pulled (likely as there blue) easy to take off as usually is the case use to happen all the time when I was younger and fitting neons was the cool thing *facepalm* lol and also you can take them off for the mot as I reckon (unless you have an open minded tester which will be rare) there would be issuses with the main/dipped headlight beam pattern being interupted from the extra light inside the headlight unit reflecting on diffrent areas of the inside of the headlight if you fitted them into the headlight unit
Yea, I wouldn't go with lights all the way around but in that genral are would look good. Is that your runner in the picture?
Yea, thats my Gilera . Im thinking of only doing the bottom-to-right and bottom-to-left part and leave out the top.
Yea would look alright still not 100% my cuppa tea but might change my mind when I see it on your scoot Where abouts you from?
Small country called Lithuania, where there are grand canyons in the roads . I'm thinking the colours will match, since my light bulbs are XENON white, but just to be sure i'll put them on just for first impressions, turn them on and check if they look good. If not, then maybe I will put the blue LED's on the side panels, since I am going paint it a white/black blue color.
I was thinking you must be somewhere in Europe from the pic, I bet it's late at night for you now? haha Grand Canyons you want to see the state of the roads here in the UK there like the surface of the moon haha Gotta say your English is perfect mate. Have you thought of doing a project thread of your runner in the project section on here?
11:48 In the evening . I was thinking about a project, but problem is, I have no idea about the setup I'm gonna do. I thought about the budget one from scooterguides tab, but after consulting in Lithuanian forums I heard that it will eat a lot of fuel and won't run for very long, i.e not worth the money. When I get all of the parts that I need I will disassemble my scooter during winter(since i am 100 percent green on this kind of stuff) and put back all the new stuff in place. Or maybe I'll just drive to a mechanics to get it assembled faster, but thats no fun .
Not too late in the night then just gone 10 at night here, Take your time if your gonna tune it, buy things bits at a time then you can buy the best bits, too many people try and buy everything in one go an can only afford the budget bits which will wear out quicker. I'm guessing the winter can be quite bad over there if you choose to rebuild it over winter? anyway even a good normal rebuild thread is an intresting read, I like reading about alsorts of projects
My point exactly When I first bought my Runner it was a piece of heaven. Seriously it was restricted(in rev's I mean) and it still goes 82 km/h(51 mph). I got so attached to it I'm not planning on selling it, so I got the idea of tuning it a bit. Buying the parts is one thing, but making sure they fit is another, I mean you can't throw random stuff in, they have to fit and stuff, that's what I am researching right now . Gonna ask around here(already made a thread). Well the winter can get to -25 Celsius(-13 Fahrenheit) but it's not a problem, since I have a garage to work in.
Good man you think the same way I do with parts Same with my scooter went away from scooters for a while then got back into them recently and love it, planning on playing with my 4T engine something diffrent to the normal stuff, it won't be fast but its just for fun -13 is cold sometimes gets like that here some years over winter but I would think its a lot colder where you are at winter, got a workshop myself best thing in the world to keep you dry and warm Email me on here a link to that other thread mate
