Hi everyone, I have an Gilera runner 172 (50cc converted to 172cc the proper way), and it used to run great, since few days it started to act wierd like bogging and sputtering at high revs under load, cutting out out of nowhere, hard to start it usually took 2 kicks to start now it’s about 6. So I did al the basic checks like spark, fuel and air and all seems to be all fine, I did a leak down test and it held 6psi for 30min so no leaks, carb is adjusted properly. Yesterday when I started up the bike it couldn’t hold its revs and wanted to die, it wouldn’t go forward and on about 3000 rpm it would die, also a lot of white/blue-Ish smoke came out of the exhaust so I went ahead and replaced the head gasket and also checked the cilinder for any damage (malossi 172cc has only 155miles on it) since I don’t have an compression tester yet. It seems to be all fine. So I checked the spark again and it was blue so I went ahead and checked the whole stator for resistance. The pickup coil had same resistance as in the user manual at about 112 ohms, but the ignition source coil had 79 ohms and in the user manual it says should be at 122-132 ohms. So my question is, is this wierd behavior of my gilly caused by a bad stator or should I worry about my piston rings and get a compression meter, like I said the whole engine and cilinder are basically new with only 155 miles on it so I really doubt it could be piston rings but I would be happy to hear others opinions on this.

Try another stator if readings are low.
