Heya, it's for my friend. He has just bought this bike off eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0184549988

    So it says it has:

    172 kit
    Ports polished...?
PM crank (have receipt for this)
    Malossi gear up

My friend doesn't know what rollers, clutch springs or jet it has. He is after more acceleration because he won't be doing much motorway, wants it for more towns etc, won't need to go over 70 or so.

Any suggestions, he said maybe fit the standard gear up which got given back to him??

    1. its a 172 5g rollers will be absolutly fucking stupid.
    2. put the original gears back in. then slighly smaller but will be slightly better bottom end.
    3. get a multivar or a decent variator.
    4. get it set up right.

am4n. Thanks for trying. But next time, don't!

Kyle, yeah was thinking of original gear up. Thing is, (doubt it though) could have like 15g rollers in, might just have to whip the casing off. Any way off telling what g they are? like weighing them up?

even so a 172 with "polished ports" and a stock exhaust with a stock carb isnt gonna pull the taller gears, whip them out and use the stock ones.

and stick some 12.5s in there then check the jetting, pretty sure the rollers will be a little on the heavy side to counter poor jetting.

Got some of them purple pill, will have to see ;)

Well there is no proof of this "polished ports" so I just don't really count that. Gear up is out then! I don't think he wants to start buying more bits so he would save money going back to standard gearing.

    12.5s can't go wrong can they ;)

I'll get him to do that then check the jetting, thanks for ya help

    What swift said. ^^

If it was a bike i was going to buy i would have wanted to see proof of the crank before i bought it. A recepit doesn't mean it's fitted.

    Whip that barrel off. ;)

That's very true actually, I'll let him know, see if he wants to get his hands dirty. Probs end up being me :(

    Sounds tasty

Might have to give it a test ride when it's done ;)

I remember when I fixed crazyjames runner outside his work with everyone looking at me, had a little go up and down seeing if it was alright, so tempted to wheelie it lol
