Hi all, I've recently brought an '02 Gilera Ice Scoot. It got a few problems, the main one being a fuel leak. I was hoping it would be a case of a split hose or a hose that had come astray, not the case though (nothing's ever that simple!).
I removed the top cover from the engine, the fuel lines appear to be ok, with the exeption of cable ties being used instead of metal clips. I could really isolate where the fuel was leaking from but there was fuel around the air filter cover, I removed the cover & petrol came pouring out of the air box. I added some more petrol and watched it got through the fuel hose, through the in line filter & then poured into the air box a few seconds later. I suspect the fuel tap at the bottom of the tank is shot but a friend suggested that it could be something to do with the flow in the carb? Any idea's on this or am I on the right track with the fuel tap because the way I understand it is that the fuel tap is what regulates the fuel intake with the vacuum from the engine. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers. :D

if the fuel tap was gone it would still come down but wudent flow all the way throught the carb. mine is gone but is stil ok. could be the carb. take the airbox off and pour some in then you will be able to see if it is flowing striaight throught the carb.

Hi Kyle1b1, done that. The fuel runs from the tank into the Carb then into the airbox. If it is the Carb where should I be looking? Thanks in advance. :D

OK, the jet is in, no problem there. The float is also working correctly, the float rising when put into fluid and drops when fluid is removed. Am I on the right trck with the fuel tap? Bearing in mind this Scoot hasn't been on the road or almost a year, could this lack of use screwed the diaphram? Cheers :D

your problem could be float height. there is a metal tab on the float, you can bend the tab up slightly to lower the float, only move it 1mm or so.
