basically started off with a nippy gilera ice standard exhaust and totally standard apart from malossi multivar and heavy rollers, nice pull away speed, and hit about 43, and was happy untill my exhaust just blew one day, looked around and found a local second hand next r for i think like £25 obviously at time i thought was great because could add another 10mph and improve me already good acceleration, wacked it on and no top end increase atall but alot better mid-range to top-range acceleration, but very bad pull away speed due to i thought not upjetting and would die if i gave it to uch throllte, dropped 2 grams on rollers and upjetted enough, it stopped it dying if i gave it to much throttle, but just seemed to rev the nuts off it, didnt improve pull away speed, over a couple of weeks and riding down a massive long hill near me, my mates complained a couple of times, first one was a load of dust came out my exhaust and covered my mate, and my bike got a bit faster, this happened a few times, and on 2 occasions some shiny gold powder stuff came out and onto my mates jacket, it then increased a few miles an hour, it was hitting around 47/48 mph, which i was pretty sure for a light bike with a sports exhaust and a malossi variator was still not right. i could have a really good day when i was easily hitting 50mph and could easily get 53mph, over 60mph down hill but was not consistant atall.

anyways had an accident on way to work a couple weeks ago smashed my bike up and myself, but now got a piaggio typhoon same year, same basic engine as i can see ?. so whilst cleaning it up and getting ready for m.o.t i thought might aswell put my technigas on my typhoon, all sorts problems now, before the bike would start on one press of starter button, or a tiny kick of the kick start, other night after putting exhaust on i had problems with it, at first was hard to start and would die, now today after not doing anything to it for couple days it wont start atall.

going to strip carb down and give good clean, was quite low on fuel and dad reckons coulda dragged some shit through from fuel

any other ideas what else it could be, obviously i still need to upjet for the exhaust but could that really affect the bike that much?

also .... is this exhaust that bad ?, is the malossi multivar ok ?
    sorry for the essay ;)
    many thanks

for your first problem (pull away) u just had to put stronger clutch springs, when u get a sports exhaust u (not always) put stiffer clutch springs. changing the rollers and upjet wasnt neccerserry.

and for the second part, i think when i put my tecnigas on my e/choke didnt work. it may have been a coincidence or maybe my choke works with the exhaust gas recirculation (which i had to take off to fit the tecnigas)

oh and for performance yes, these exhausts are pretty bad.

the upjet was neccesary, the bike would die at full throttle, and ok ta, but both the ice and typhoon have same carburettor, and never had that problem with my ice

yes sorry, a full throlle pull away would make the engine die, the upjet seemed to sort that out, but acceleration did not really increase much
