ralrite people , now ever since i brought my dna the electric start has never worked , however before i brought it the bike had been stood a long time so i think the elcetric start is just due to battery , when i try to use the electric start i just hear a whizzing noice like there not enough power ? is this just due to low battery ? becuase when i havent rode my bike for a day or not my digital clocks start turning off and on untill i start the engine up so i think the battery is just fucked ........ so is this due to battery ? also what type of battery does a gilera dna 02 model use ? cheers
It does sound like your battery is dead, because you said when you go to start it there is like a whizzing noise, this is that starter motor trying to work I think... I would just go to your local battery/bike centre with your battery and ask them for a replacement one. Also try taking the starter motor off and cleaning up the connections and other bits, making sure everything seems ok. Hope this helps
cheers around about how much are batteries will it be cheaper to order online? how do i acess the startot motor?
This might be way off, can't remember the exact price but mine was around £25 i think from Beds Battery, the local battery place obviously lol. But I got a bit of a discount because my cousin works there and my grandad did for years. Should be around the £20-£30 mark I should think mate. On my bike the starter motor is near the variator, just below it, set slightly back, could be different on your bike though. Just take the transmission case off and then the variator, undo the allen bolts on the startor motor, the thing itself should be quite flat and about 3 inches wide and have a cylindical shaped part in the midde which is the main part, this should be about 3 inches long as well. To be honest, you should see it and once the bolts are un-done it should just pull out. You may be able to wiggle it past the variator if poss. As i said before, it might be different on your bike, in the same place but may not be set behind the variator which will be easier. If it is though, you may as well check your rollers and put a fresh set in if neccessary, save doing later on... Hope this helps
you will need to remove the stand to get to the starter motor but i sugest either chargeing and filling ure batterry up or use a different one and dont forget to re fitt the battery overflow tube
If its a 50 it wont have an overflow pipe as its a sealed battery. YTX4LBS about £10-£15 retail, and available in any bike shop! Could be battery is low, or a starter problem, but most likely the bendix is sticky.
bpo my nrg has a overflow or is it diff for dna's or is it because someones fitted a unseald batterry
