I bought my Gilera DNA about 5/6 months ago.
It already has a Malossi 70cc kit but that looks a little worse for ware to me.

A few months in some daft bimbo managed to reverse into it knocking one of the cooling hoses loose. This made the temperature a little interesting before the whole thing finally gave up the ghost a couple of months later while on the way back from my girlfriend's place.
It was then I decided instead of just fixing it I would have a little play aswell. I've always loved speed so the more the better :D

I saved up mu money for a few months an bought all this lot:
    Doppler S7R 70cc kit
    Polini 21mm Carb
    Polini Evolution 2 air filter
    Yansuni C16 exhaust
    New starter motor
    New spark plug
    Size 95 jet

And it all came about a week later.

Then I realised it needed some alterations to the gearing so ordered:
    4gm polini rollers
    polini clutch springs
    Variator tool

I ordered them today so I'll upload pics when they arrive :yahoo:

Ontop of that my uncle's picking my bike up at the weekend and gonna fit all my new toys to it seeing as he's be building bikes for 20 odd years and owns a show winning Harley :)

    UPDATE

Just got off the phone to my uncle and he's almost sorted the problem of it not fitting, The stupid cylinder had so many casting defects that he's even had to use wet and dry paper inside the cylinder to stop the piston from hitting. I officially have massive respect for him right now!!!! Hopefully I'll get it back mid next week :yahoo:

    UPDATE 15/06/11

I got it back off my uncle :D
All the parts are fitted and this is how it's looking now:

BUT IT'S LEAKING COOLANT FROM THE CRANK CASE

This means the water pump's fucked D:

It's also not getting fuel to the engine and I don't know why
This means it's not running, but has a good spark.

I really don't have the time or money for this though so it's going up
    FOR SALE, £850 ONO

Looks like a nice project, must admit I've always wanted to do a DNA as I quite like them just think they're a little... Too slow :D Keep this updated and I'll definitely be checking up on this. :)

The only problem really is the weight. It's the t2 engine same as the Gilera Runner so it's pretty damn tunable, and the riding position makes it hell quicker than and scooter :D
it's great fun even stock caus you can hit corners at pretty high speeds (did a putty tight hairpin at bout 40) just takes a while to get up to speed (Y)

    Haha
It will be a dream bike when I'm finished. Going to have the silver frame painted darker silver, and bodywork re-sprayed black, take off the front mud guard, and front light cluster and replace it with 2 street fighter style spotlights (with a matt black surround) and put a black screen above it to hide the speedo (Y)
    Will be gorgeous :yahoo:

My Uncle's had a bit of an issue fitting the cylinder kit. Said it was like it was hitting on something and wouldn't go all the way down. Told it could be a casting defect (N) I think he's going to try and make it fit :beg: but if not he'll have to put back on the old Malossi kit that was on there before

Looks nice mate but the price seems steep, especially seeing as it has the fault. Would be better off asking your uncle for a hand to repair it then put it up but becareful about the price.

    That's not at all steep
    I bought it for £600
And I've spent well over £700 on it,
    So that's £1300 worth
Plus it's got like another £100 pounds worth of spares,
I think all in all that's a pretty good deal
Only needs a little more work doing on it and then you've got an amazing bike.
and all the parts on it are brand new seeing as it isn't running they've only been fitted.

Thing is mate, we can appreciate the money, time and work it takes to do what has been done so hopefully someone off here or someone who understands will get in touch. Being realistic you never get your money back after doing a personal project like this as money isn't the object, then there's the part about it needing the work. To an average Joe who knows SFA they're going to be worrying about it costing an arm and a leg to repair.

As I said before you'd be better off doing the small repair then you'd stand a better chance at getting the money it deserves, as it does looks very clean on the pictures.

yeah I know I'd never get all the money back
£850 is how much I feel it's worth
    I'm open to sensible offers
and most people on here are very knowledgeable when it comes to building bikes and therefore probably wouldn't have too much difficulty doing it. Would make sense to do that and fit a new crank at the same time, then I've already got a polini high-speed variator and new clutch spring that needs fitting :good:
