I'm looking at buying a Peugeot looxor 100, and before you shun me for looking at a pug it's only a work run around!!

The owner says that he was riding it and the bike stalled 'in gear' and now wont start. He thinks that the gearbox may need looking at.

Any suggestions what it may be??
    Drive belt?
    Clutch?
    Rollers?

Really appreciate any help from the experts!

    Thanks

Sounds like he seized it tbh

Do you think it's a seized motor?

Cant really be sure with just that info but id say so..theres not many other things that would just make it die mid ride. Nothing in the transmission will make it not start though

I guess that the gearbox will only come into play when the rollers spin out at the appropriate revs from a working motor?

    Pretty much.

The gearbox unit itself is the last part in the transmission and send power straight to the wheel. Some people call the whole transmission (variator, clutch, gears, belt etc) the gearbox which I'm guessing he meant but it's irrelevant as none of the transmission parts are needed for it to start anyway.

If you could find if it has a spark, compression and a wet plug it would answer your q as those are the only things you need basically

    More info from the seller.
'The bike turns over and will start and the engine runs, it's just incredibly lumpy in it's running and won't jump into gear at all. As long as the brake is held (with the drive not engaged) then the engine runs, albeit incredibly noisily'.

    I appreciate your help!!
