Garage/Workshop specialised in Tmax

Hello everyone,

I come here today as I would like to know if any of you have had good experiences with garages that are specialised in Tmax servicing/repairs in London.

I’ve been taking my Tmax to West London Yamaha for the past year and a half, but they charge a lot of money each time I go. I know it’s an expensive scooter but hear me out:

I brought my Tmax for a 6K mile service and it set me back £230, but that is what it costs so I’m not complaining. However, I asked them to install a Malossi MHR 2000 and they charged me £170. I’ve lived in Paris and I know dealerships that sell you the Malossi variator and install it for 240€ (that is roughly £200).

Now, I know Paris isn’t as expensive as London, but should there be such a humongous difference? All in all, I paid £360 for the variator + labour. That’s nearly twice as much!

As a result of all of this, I’m hoping someone here knows a good garage that could service my Tmax as in 3000 miles, the oil will need changing and the rollers inside the variator will need replacing too. And I don’t want to pay an extra 2 hours of labour just for that.

I think London prices can vary hugely depending on where you go. Best bet is to ring around a bit.
Does it need to be a Yamaha dealer for your sake or are you happy with any bike shop?
Mark one of the admins lives in London and can probably help.
It's been about 15 years since I lived in London so I'm no help..

 

I'd suggest having a day out and going to DRD Motorcycles in North Walsham. I bought a new TMax from there some years ago. They were always very friendly (it is rural Norfolk after all), good value for a main dealer and super efficient. And no, I'm not affiliated to them in any way. Oh and welcome to the forum
