Funny thing happened to me on the way home.

Riding home from work 1.00pm friday and I pass a Traffic cop car sitting in a lay-by. Got the feeling they were gonna come after me and sure enough they pulled out of the lay-by. With a couple of small roundabouts ahead I buggered off away from them but not too far. They caught up and pulled me in, and the driver (little twat with a village people tash exept it was ginger) comes up to me and shouts "Ok son switch the moped off and lose the fucking helmet".
I switched the scooter off and took my helmet off and asked him "Whats the problem, why did you stop me "
His reply was "oh sorry I thought you were only a lad", he proceeded to ask all the usual stuff mot, insurance etc. When his partner comes running over looking like he just came in his pants ,shouting "don't let him go, we have to seize the bike" Turns out the guy I bought the scoot from had an asbo and there was also an asbo linked to the reggie number of my scooter.
I had to convince them I didn't live in Manchester and I had owned it since august last year. Even though the papers are in my name and I wasn't aware that they could seize the scoot without an offence taking place.
Just goes to show even if you hpi a bike and phone the dvla to ask if there is any police interest in the bike you can still get caught out, that and the traffic cops are all twats who were bullied at school. :msn1:

bin pulled a few times late at night coming home from work normally get the same attitude turn the bike off lad remove your helmet son then when they see i'm a more mature gentleman its evening sir just checking . Dont have a problem with radom checks but if thats the attitude they show the young uns no wonder people have no respect for them or the job that they are doing

 

Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago...

got pulled by cops in unmarked Honda Accord....

When i pulled my helmet off and they saw i was in my 30"s...it was all apologies

Asked me a few basic questions and waved me on my way...guess being old has a few advantages imp:

 

i get stopped all the time, always want to see my lisence, pretend to poke round the bike then pick something and winge about it, tell me to sort it and bugger off on their merry way.

 

coppers really do make me laugh..talk to em with respect and you normally get let off..alltho it all depends on the copper at the time

you have to take control of the situation when stopped.there only humans and aretrained to take control of the situation and be in charge.start off with helmet off, bike off and on stand,then a cheery hello, im dave can i help do you want me to do this or that, did you stop me 3 months ago on the high st,im sure it was you (his eyes go upwards and to the right ) then hes in memory retrival mode not copper mode...hes just putty in my hands ...same thing when your at the match and a mounted copper tries to move you with his horse,just stand your ground and hoss will go backwards and around you, no matter what the rider saysjust ask any horsey type :rtfm:
