Bike failed MOT on: no brake light when brake pulled Intermittent Horn Brake pads binding on front wheel Asked the Barnsley, S-Yorkshire ,Gilera Dealer where I got the MOT done for a quote.... According to him it would need the entire front end dropping out blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. Took him 20 minutes (longer than it did for the MOT) to tap in the prices for parts, time for the mechanic to fix it etc etc. £230 PLUS A FULL RE-TEST. Rode home in a right effing mood. Took the front panel off and squirted some WD40 in the offending contacts to wash off the winter crust, changed the pads, and presto... 10 minutes, done! Went back the following day and it passed. Guy behind the counter looked well p*ssed off, and started grumbling about how he'd have to cancel all the parts he'd ordered. Yeah f*ck your prices mate you Rob Dog!!!
Yeah. I worked for a stealership as a mechanic. Sometimes the parts guys order in stuff for no reason. So many people live in a throwaway world where they dont fix anything.
Yeah a new front brake caliper rather than a set of pads, and an an entire horn and brake system rather than clean an electrical contact.
