Full engine rebuild,Fully de-restricted but only does 30mph?

Hi,
Just had my bike back from a rebuild because my engine siezed due to a bit of my reed petal snapping off and making its way into my bore. I thought my bike was a 50cc as it was fully de-restrcited and only did 50mph but it actually had a mallosi 70cc kit :yahoo: BUT it seized, The water pump also packed up and one of my bearings went.

It cost £385 for a new 50cc engine, bearings, water pump, labour etc. etc.

Now i have my bike back, it only goes 30 mph! :banghead: the owner of the garage says that its because i have a torque spring which is made for 70cc bikes but i didnt think this made any difference, i just thought you could get stronger ones if needed. I have a 400 mile running in period and then he said go back to a standard aerox clutch spring, is this the right thing to do? Is that even the reason its going so slow.

The exhaust i currently have on you can get a 50cc version and a 70cc version. If the owner before has put a 70cc exhaust on and now the 70cc exhaust is on my 50cc engine, do you believe this is what is casuing the problem? should i change exhaust? could there still be a restrictor in the pipe and thats why when i had a 70cc it only went 50mph?

exactly what pipe have you got ??

could be a few things really why your bikes going so slow :glare:

maybe your set up...i.e jetting/rollers etc are still for your 70cc engine, and are not working too good now youve go a 50cc engine...

or maybe your crank hasnt been centered properly, and is running very tight in the bearings...

400 mile running in period, it'll be ready for another piston by then mate :grin: like minor says take it back the guy who did it, if you dont get any joy burn his shop down !!!! :thumbsup:

The person wont rip me off, he done a lot of work on my bike before..

He says is the torque spring. He said after running it in i should change the torque spring and i will get 50mph again but he didnt want to do it when he fitted the engine because he didnt want me going to fast an blowing it.... after my 400 miles, i will change teh spring and then i have to take it back.. if it still has the same problems i will get him to fix it simple as...

If im using a 70cc pipe on a 50cc bike, is that a bad idea? should i put my standard exhaust back on just for the time being?

The jetting was put back to standard although i have the pipe on it and im not sure about the rollers, i believe they are quite light, but the excact weight? i haven't a clue sorry..

ermm standard jetting with a pipe??? and please don't say your still running the open air filter as it says in your other thread
that shop is taking the piss take it back there asap..they didnt set the transmission up properly regardless what they say about not going to fast to blow it
your not going to be doing ur cylinder any good coz you'll be full throttling it everywhere just to keep up with traffic as where your supposed to vary the revs when your running it in not keep it in a constant rpm (the standard bore on one of these is cast iron right?).. get them to sort it asap..sumfink don't seem right with that shop though i swear at first they told you it was a 70 head on a 50 cylinder and piston(in your other thread)...surely if they took your head of to diagnose the problem they should know what a 70piston looks like ...
p.s. it isn't a tuning shop is it..it's a scootershop thats your first problem...most tend 2 get confused as soon as they see malossi lol

that pipe should be ok on a 50cc, its nothing really fruity...

ah ok

after i run my bike in i will just do the torque spring and see if it helps..

if not then ill put the standard pipe back on and if that dont work il take it back to him
