FUEL GAUGE IS LYING TO ME PLEASE HELP!!

I have a gilera runner sp 180 and the fuel gauge isnt working its saying that i have a full tank of fuel when i know i dont because the petrol light at the other side of the clocks is saying low fuel so i need to know what part i need to make my gauge work again, thanks people!!

 

remove the fule sender from the tank check it moves freely and not stuck at the full position then check the resistance on a multimeater if the resistance dosent change when you move the float then your going to need a new one hope this helps

 

Thanks mate couldnt have hoped for a better answer, will the fuel sender from all the other gilera runners work in my runner (50,125,180 including 4 stroke models)

 

to be honest i dont know i just had the same problem with my yamaha but it should work as long as it fits and has the same resistance rating as the old one
