Fuel gauge/float problem

HI

Heard something rattling about in my fuel tank on my speedfight whilst the fuel gauage does not work, upon further inspection the float has came undone inside the tank and is floating about, where would i be able to get a new fuel float and could this possibly casue damage.

You could try filling your tank up full, then fish it out as it will float to the top!

 

How did i not think of that duhh, but thinking I would then have to wait til its empty to fish the other bits out! sounds like there is more than one bit in there. Think tomorrow I might just drain all the fuel into a jerry can then have another go! cheers

 

run it empty, take it off and turn it upside down?

 

Drained the fuel out reassembled the float fuel gauge still not working.
Got the multi meter out checked for continuity in the 2 wires and there is no break in the wire.
So leading to believe I need new clocks now any ideas please
