    Hi All,

Sorry if there is already another thread running on this but I couldn't find it.

I've been doing some research of the best fuel to use for my newly acquired 1999 Gilera Runner, coming from cars I was expecting Shell V Power to get the nod, but it seems its not so straight forward for an aging two stroke..

I've since read that octane figure isn't that important for our engines, rather its the ethanol level that's key as this is not kind to seals/fuel lines etc. My understanding is that the vast majority of fuels now have around 5% ethanol, but some of the super unleaded formulas and indeed new fuels due in the market have up to 10%.

I believe the ideal for us would be a ethanol free super unleaded.. but apart from some ESSO garages such fuel is essentially impossible to come by.

So I guess the question is do any of you guys worry about what fuel you put in your bikes? And if so, what brand do you prefer and why? Also is there any other fuel companies out there still offering ethanol free fuel?

    Your over thinking this.
    Use unleaded.
    90-99ron...
And use good two stroke oil...

i run on both unleaded and super unleaded, one tank of super unleaded to every four tanks unleaded. the super stuff has added cleaners so it helps give the motor a clean out.

i did run purely on super unleaded but the price per litre at like £1.30p compared to £1.17p made me change.
4.8l now cost me £5 where it would usually cost me close to £6.50.

As scubabiker says GOOD MIXING OIL !!! , a good oil is going to help lube and protect the motor better than some cheap 5 quid litre stuff. i myself run yamalube semi synth and have done now for the past year in my little sym

Cheers guys, I'll not worry about it anymore then :) and probably stick to running super where possible.

Oil wise I'm using Castrol power 1 racing fully synthetic, on a 70cc stage 6 streetrace, running the autolube plus 100:1 premix.
