I was feelin dumb for a week n had no coolant in my nrg and it split the top of the outside of my cylinder it's not a massive crack but it obviously leaks coolant now any ideas on how to fix this ? Weld it or I've got some liquid gasket will tht do it

if its a standard 50 it'll be easier to source a new second hand one...loads less grief than keep trying to bodge it. It'd prob cost £20 to get it welded and you'd get a decent replacement for a similar amount

if its on cast iron it would be a easy job for a skilled welder

infact i suspect most garages would fix the crack for you

i think that it will crack up again easily.... you better get a new one for your own safety...
imagine you go on a little trip far away from home and boom the cylinder gets fucked! you dont want that to happen do ya??? :p

easy weld if its cast ..and it will last if you clean it first

Cast isnt easy to weld, it doesnt like extreme heat in a short space of time. Theres still a chance you could weld it though, but aluminium would be equally easy to get done (with a TIG welder)

I agree, cast isnt an easy weld. The cylinder needs to be heated first to an even temperature to ensure a good strong weld. If its done right it'll last the bike out.

I had a vice welded for my milling machine. The vice was a freebie with the miller but the casting for the handle retention was broke off. It cost me £20 to get it sorted but its still good even though it gets loads of stain on it when holding work to be machined

ok thanks for replays lol my safety only thing tht will happen is it will leak loads of coolant all I need to do is keep my coolant in Gunna try tht chemical metal if that doesn't work get my m8 to weld it I showed him it and he said the same cast iron isn't very easy to weld

prob with trying a filler repair is that the joint will then be contaninated and the cast needs a very clean surface to be a strong weld.... if the filler idea doesnt work you may then have a problem
