Backed the pistons off using a proper tool. Bled the brakes. Checked the pads but the Pistons must be sh*tted up, and the wheel still drags heavily, after re-assembly. Works fine without the brake caliper! Never popped the pistons out to clean them, is it easy to do, seeing as I've done the above checks many times before? Cheers, Rob.
Pump the pistons out to clean under the seals (the groove they sit in) water corrodes them and you get a white crud!
I guess I'll just have to... 1. Pump them out. 2. Clean the pistons and the inside of the caliper as best as I can. 3. Grease them with Red Rubber Grease. 4. Refit them. 5. Bleed the brakes. Does that sound as if it's all I can do?!?!? Cheers, Rob.
i have actually seen a poston/seal set, from piaggio, but cant remember what bike it was on....... but like marsh says, take the seals out and scrape the white crap out, you may need to make a tool to do it (i very small allen wrench will work) the best thing for cleaning the crud off the seals is your fingernails, ive done bloody hundreds of piaggio/derbi brake callipers over the years!
