I like to metal detect the beaches of Delaware and Maryland on the East coast of the states, a lot of old school shipwrecks and interesting finds. My hunting buddy found a "clump" of stuff a few months back......... it was like a big rock at the time.

After some soaking these buttons appear. If anyone could identify the symbols, place or name would be of great help. She is interested in learning as much as she can and figure out how they might have washed up on our beaches. I'd like to know too and see how old they are.

    Thanks

thanks for the info, very helpfull. I think they are both buttons............there were 4 all together but the other two had no insignia or markings. The one with the dragon (or whatever) reads 39 CHEAPSIDE J BIDEN on the back.

Interesting stuff, wonder how it washed up here? Thinking a shipwreck maybe, we have found Irish shoe buckles from a 1785 wreck before.

The insignia on each are unique, any more info is really appreaciated.

nothing, except one or two sites that had the same info, same info as posted in here too. The J BIDEN button didn't turn out any results. I have since learned they are "livery" buttons, not military. Probably a symbol for a particular family or old school posse.

There are old coins, both silver and gold that we hunt for. Found these spanish cobs or reales earlier in the year nearby.
