Just 2 quick questions. 1. When finishing flowing cases, I was told to use "emery paper" to finish it off? Also secondly. I spent hours last night searching on here and on the net and a bit in the 2 stroke tuning book, but I am going to raise the exhaust port by 1mm and maybe if I'm feeling brave enough widen it by 1mm. But my question is, What is a "chamfer"? I am under the impression that it is the lip of the port? if I am wrong then I aint going no where near the ports with the dremel. Thanks.
chamfer is around the post edge will be ground back like 0.x mm to take the edge of the port off so it isnt sharp(ish) think so will have to refer back to me book :w00t:
the port edge when greound is a 90 degree angle yes? a chamfer is 2 45 degree angles wiht a set distance between, kind of like a coffee table (well some) can get pics if your REALLY struggeling, but imadgen taking just half a mm off the edge of a sharp edge. your barrel will already be chamferd
So instead of it being flat, you make it almost like a curve? or am I going in the wrong direction here? Thanks for the help.
thi is PICTURED in any decent tunning book,. go buy one, stop askin random questions on here.. you want to klearn, pick up a book, if it doesent make sence the 3rd time you aint ever gonna get it.
chamfer is a bevelled edge ...to take the sharpe corner off ( I was a joiner in a former life :emb: )
Cheers stig. I said I have looked in the graham bell book, but couldn't find out.... Edit: Only pic I found was a chamfer on a piston skirt
Oh I understand. That is what I had in my head originally, but just wanted to double check. Cheers Kyle. +10 brownie points for you :w00t:
make the chamfer with a file not the dremel, and make it as small as possible, you want just enough to make it not cut the ring as it goes past the port (also stops it stripping all the oil off)
