I have been told that it is against the law to ride with the chin section raised (i.e. as though it was a helmet peak).

Is this correct or is it bollox ???

i got told that you can ride with it all the way up. but the companys dont test them up (or they do and realised they dont do f**k all while up ) so recomend to ride with thm down. think thats rite?

Well you wouldn't wanna come off, land on ya chin or front not to have any protection. That would kinda hurt methinks

You can have it up ..... but its not recommended to do so cos you will exacly land on your chin... its just bascily wearing a open face helmet....

I see this swaying off topic.

To the point they arent illegal as people wear open faced helmets all the time. Its just a matter of personal prefference. Aslong as its tested to meet the standards and marked (sticker usually) its a legal helmet.

I think my instructor said something about them not being designed to withstand crashes with it flipped up. She said something along the lines of bits breaking off and making a mess of your eyes and face.

Personally I wouldnt ride with it up. If thats what you want then buy a proper opened face helmet. Ride with it up and see if the old bill say anything, if they dont then you win.
