Bought a set of Malossi springs for my SP180. Went to fit the green ones but they don't seem to fit very well at all and i'm just wondering if that is normal.

The gauge of the wire is much thicker and it would barely go into the housing hole but I eventually got it in. The width of the spring is also wider than the std ones so that it is jammed between the arm and the body of the clutch which causes the arm to be pushed out slightly at rest. I double checked and they are definitely labelled as being for the original clutch.

tbh, its common... take the clutch to peices... file the powdercoat off the spring hook s (just the verry end) then wiggle the springs through all 6 holes one by one till they go in... i put the springs on then reinstall all 3 shoes to the backplate.. but this can be tricky/bend clutch pins. other way is a vice, a spring puller and a hammer, they will go, springs steel, clutch is ali, the ali will wear first :) they NEVER just go in ;)

Thanks. Ended up getting them in eventually. What a hassle. Put the green ones in - hopefully it will be worth it.
