fitting crank and berings

    basicaly im puttin a bgm crankshaft with bearings seals etc into my typh lump, whats the best way to fit the berings in , is freezing them and then tapping them in the casesings with a rubber mallet going to be ok. and whats the best way of alighning the crank so it can be put in straight.

    if u get the mains in straight the crank shud go in straight (correct me if im rong)

    also find a socket that fits perfectly around the edge of the mains.. then tap them in. been told freezing them helps alot

    as said.. remember to fit the old seals an messure the depth from the outside so you know how far the seals go in when built. i cheat and put them in first and am verry gental with the heat.. its alot harder tho but takes less messin/messuring with the seals. i dont recomend this the first couple builds tho

    if the bearing doesent go straight in then gentally tap the bearing bit by bit (highest spot obviously) only hit the OUTER race of the bearing and do it softly. fuck a rubber hammer. copper or normal. if at any point it's not going well, stop. strip and then try again noting what you did wrong.

    remember the sealant aswell. only a TINY bit and I do mean the tinyest. it only has to seal 2 flat sufaces. water can do this but moves hence you use silicone
