That is the cat-converter, which pumps air into the exhaust I belive, to make cleaner fumes. Or it might be the otherway round pumping fumes into the airbox to re-use exhaust gasses but im sure that would kill the engine.

Remove it, the zx dont have it because its not ment to be enviromentally friendly. You may need to upjet a little. 53 stock, 56 with cat removed then +5% for the exhaust.

yeh, that pipes for the emissions...and not needed now. You can also remove the box from the engine leaving just a stub of pipe sticking out

thanks guys, i took a risk and fitted the zx and just left that open, it must just be pumping out waste fumes so i have just left it open ended...i havnt done the jet yet because i cant get to the float bowl so im going to let a garage do it next week, it may have had an up-sized jet put into it before i bought the bike, if not...will it be ok to run for a week before doing the jet...?

i will upload some pics in the morning of the bike with a nice shiny zx on it :pimp:

personally I wouldn't risk running without firstly confirming its been jetted to suit

Things start to get expensive if it nips up just for the fact you dint swap a 50p jet
