"Oh and fwd" did you think you were gna get insured on a AWD scoob, or RWD car?

    lol much?

look around on insurance quotes... get an idea whats cheap.. THEN look for a car, don't do it the other way round, or you'll be robbed blind

foolish advice.. and yes theres plenty of rear wheel drive cars that are CHEAPER to insure than a fiesta...

go buy the car you like... insurance skanks you whatever you have. go buy a GOOD car (by that i mean one you like the look of and proven mechanicaly sound) oh and dont buy anything modified ATALL.. it ,means some silly little 17 year old has ragged it every gear, every day its entire life..

my mates got an r reg 316 coupe and its cheaper to insure than his old 1.4 saxo (which he wrote off and claimed for) 17 too, so it goes to show search around for things you may not even consider to be cheap insurance?

Thinking of getting a car soon myself.. Don't care what it looks like i'm just wanting reliability, I've not had any of that since my little speedfight, that never broke down.

saxo'scome back wiht the WORST quotes for young drivers... oph and as far as cars go there prittymuch 100% shit...

listen to somone who has actuallyowned more than they are advising.. so steer WELL clear of saxo's (106's, whatewver crappy badge is on them there still shit)

corsa's are a nightmare on insurance as are punto'#s.. its got fuck all to do wiht the classification of the vehicle at your age, its down to how the AVARAGE owner your age treats them (badly) hence the 316 was cheaper, not many 17 year olds write them off..

but ye, theres ALOT of myth's concerning insurance, usually drummed up by idiots paying WELL over the top for there little hot ish hatch they THINK is costing them verry little to insure, when in reality it would be cheaper to insure a 4 door saloon... not that they would know as theyve only ever done insurance quotes on shitty little hatchbacks or hotted up versions OF shitty hatchbacks..

do YOURSELF some quotes on the casrs YOU like and dont be put of by the whole "insurance is expensive on a nice car" as usually at 17/18/19 you pay the same whatever it is.. well, within reason.

i was insured on a chevvy camaro 77 5.7 z28 at 17 for less than 500 quid... (yes, left hand drive HUGE american thing...) was cheaper than my fiesta 1 litre on insurance,, so bollocks hatchbacks are cheaper?!?!?

go find what YOU want to drive and stop asking the same silly questions every young lad wiht absoloutly no opinion of there own ask's weekly...why are you asking people what car to buy when its YOUR car?!?!

probably not need now but my mates just bought a 1.6 bora insurance coming in at 900 compared to his old 1.3 ford ka at just over 2000? it seems that what you would of thought to be a logical first car is wrong lol

but you know what kind of cars in on the market in your price range go shop around :D

bmw is a poor example i must say... also a pritty chavish car these days so ye alot of em crashed by youngsters... but ye, 3k theres sommin up wiht you.. 3k for a bmw simply means you havent looked about enough.. m8 had one, 316l, 5 years old, been young ofenders, less than a grand (insured for south london) compaird to the polo mk3 hatchback he had befor (he paid over a grand on, same insurance year)

get a mini, cheap to fix, simple enough for even the dimmest to figure out, cheap as fuck to insure, cheap as fuck to run... cant go wrong.

ok just did a quote for an unknown guy (basicly made up so no insurance/police history) 18 years old, passed that day, saxo vtr £1800 (at my old address in london) honda prelude 2.2 vtech 1100 quid (same address)

all about finding an insurer thats happy for you to drive the car you want.. forget insurance when it comes to buying a car, its fooking irelevent as your getting skanked anyway.. just go by running/fixing the thing and actually USING it (like, what do you need a car for? driving miles and miles in or brumin round town wiht your m8's doing fuck all but cause traffic?) little shitty hatchback might jsut suite your needs/driving ability..

main rule is DONT buy a newer base moddel slow ass car when you can buy the fastest version, a little older wiht ALL the extras for a tiny bit more insurance (going for an older car usually means you have dosh left over for more insurance anyway) get a NICE car, whatever your approximation of what a nice car is is upto you... but if its gonna be a saxo/106 dont get a fookin base model.. gti/vtr minimum.. same wiht most cars.. fuck a new 1 litre fiesta.. get an old 1.6 one.. always get a GOOD car for your money then. plus little engines work harder per mile so break more often... its a fact.. they usually use more fuel too as you have fuck all power and pin it EVERYWHERE>..

go get yourself a PREFERANCE of your own and THEN see what you can afford... i really dont get why people ask what car/ped/whatever to get.. its asif it doesent matter how good/shit you think it is aslong as other people like it :confused::confused::

is it just me Minor, or can you rant on absolutely ANY topic? haha...

heres a thing for insurance when i was messing around the other day... i'm 17, been passed for say 3 month? average of 10k miles per year this is what i got:

1.0 16v Micra 3 door R reg: £2800 (i thought this would be the cheapest?)

    1.4 8v 206 3 door 52 plate: £2000 (ish, what i currently drive)

    1.8 (16v? if not higher) 5 door 4WD impreza: £1650..

so i take back what i said above, you've just gotta look about on cars and whats cheap to run, what you like yatta yatta.. dont be put off by what other people have told you.. just look around, everyones insurance is different, due to where they live yatta yatta

my first car was a volvo 440 si. it were an absolute tank. had my first ever crash in the pub car park in it, crashed into a punto at about 15mph, completely wrote off the punto, all the volvo had was a scratch on the bumper and a broken headlight. quality first car.

my insurance HALFED fromm moving from mitcham to tadworth (ten miles) postcode is a postcode.. if you live in a bad one your fucked basicly...

i wont just go on and recomend what car i have, but i have it for a reason.. 1.4 polo 8v.. cheap as fuck to insure, cheap parts, quick ish.. blah blah, only bad point on them is gearbox's with rev happy teenagers (usual story) but thats about it as far as bad bits... scrapyard near me had 2 the same model as mine, couple diff colour/door number.. so plenty of spares (going for a diesel box and passat 8v 1.8 engine eventually) got a 16v interior (full) out of a 26,000 mile accident damaged vehicle for 50 quid.. spankin black recaro's anyone?

but ye, brake disks cost me 13 quid a go... wheel bearings are a tenner, exhausts are fuckin cheap[.. you can get new 155/60-13's for about 15 quid (thats LOW profile for the standard steels) and you can get a set of coilovers for 160.. so basicly even WITH a nice set of wheels my p reg polo, on coily's, with wheels, new breaks, a years mot/tax/new wing (small dent) drivers door, nice new interior has cost less than 600 quid oh and its german and it had a gearbox at 80,000 miles so i know its good to do 160k EASILY on the gearbox.. engine will hapily do that if you keep ontop of plug's/filters and belts.. cant go wrong

but ye, buy what you like.. the only reason i slag saxo's is there fucking expensive for what they are, cost too much to insure, every chav on the planet has one and a friend of mine is in a wheelchair as a result of a 30mph collision in one... unsafe cars that should quite frankly be banned. shit electrics, shit engines, shit suspention... and all for TWICE what youd pay for a decent polo/golf/clio

go buy what YOU want to drive... the inside is more importatnt han the outside once you own the fuckin thing.. you cant see a car from inside, untill it breaks down, id rather an ugly car i never see than to be sat broken down on the side of the road monthly looking at what i thought was a nice car.. but ye.. go wiht a mechanics choice (every mechanic i know has ether a ford, a vw, a vauxhal, a bmw or a renault) no fucking citerons/peugots to be seen (big fookin reason)
