Feels like theirs no compression.

I can't actually feel any kind of compression that feels like it will start the bike up.
I can't actually start the bike, because I stripped it down etc, but I took of the bore, checked the piston and the bore, and they seemed fine, I cleaned it all and stuck it back in.
And their still felt like no difference.

My friend said their was smoking coming from the wires near the magneto, or something near/in the magneto, could this be the reason? maybe a new magneto?
