Ok, i need to know a few answers about standard exhausts.
This is the standard pipe off my ped, and i would like to make it sound louder. only for a while just to mess around with.

Can someone tell me what would happen if
I cut the end can off my exhaust.
Drilled holes in the silencer at the end.
and ran it without and exhaust (which im not going to, jw tho)

    Thanks.

Ive done this before and what im about to tell you is from my own experience.

Doing any of the above will make it anoyingly loud, it wont sound nice at all.. The engine will perform worse as theres less back-pressure, also making it run hotter (not good). Cutting the endcan off would make it stupidly loud, i mean so loud its actually gonna be illegal for you to ride the ped on the road. You WILL get nicked for it.

If you ran it without an exhaust for a short period of time, eventually something will flick up off the road and enter the combustion chamber, this would wreck the engine. And also, I've heard of cylinders "warping" when running no exhaust, if a breeze of cold air entered the exhaust port when the engines hot, then yes i cant see why it wouldnt warp up or even crack!

So no dont do it. Save up and buy a performance exhaust so it'll actually sound decent.

try putting an air filter on will give your bike a louder and nicer sound :)

    >>>>>Bertie...for something to flick up and enter into the exhaust chamber while riding along on a scooter is extremely unlikely unless your riding with no exhaust at all and that is extremely fast (which couldn't happen)catch 22 ...which equals no backpressure which on 2 stroke is pretty dire really so ur goin nowhere very fast.......anyways ...just an observation......mind!!

Read his first post, he wanted to know what would happen if he ran NO exhaust. But yes its unlikely that something would flick up off the road thru the exhaust port, but there is a huge chance of the cylinder warping due to cold air rushing into the exhaust port and shrinking the cylinder whilst the piston is hot, it'll just seize up eventually.

Ok ur the boss but I disagree as on a 2 stroke the force of blow being every 2 cycles would make the exhaust port considerably hot as it does, and so the air rush would cool it nicely just an observation.........to warp a cylinder like that would extremely differential temps in a very short space of time which I beleive could only happen in a lab envoironment.........
