I recently swapped a battered Peugeot Ctech for a rieju mrx, the exhaust i got with it is a cheap MK pipe that is mounted with springs and full of holes. in my garage i have the MK pipe from my old derbi that was held on with bolts and is in much better condition can i make this fit or do i need a spring mounted exhaust?
when you say MOUNTED with springs....do you mean its joined together with springs or the mounting fixings are flexible? If the sections are joined with springs its simply for ease of removal. If they're for flexible mounting then you'd need to do the same to any replacement to stop it cracking when mounted
the exhaust is held on by a spring on either side at the barrel? i dont really know how to explain but thanks for trying
ah, you mean into a collar thats bolted to the head, a bit like allspeeds.... it'd be OK to fix a ridgid pipe but you're best securing the other end with a rubber flexi-bolt. The engine will vibrate through the frame. if you dont and could end up cracking either the exhaust or worse still, the frame
no it wont crack the frame ...many exhausts are spring or solid bolt and for the same bike as long as it fits and it matches the cylinder it will be fine
Have seen cracked frames where the exhaust and everything else is solid bolted. The stresses have to go somewhere..........
but the exhaust is mounted to the engine and the engine moves on buches ...i dont get how the frame could crack explain please
it the engine can move in the frame on bushes and the far end of the exhaust is fixed solid to the frame then theres movement back and forth/side to side. Either the fixed point will break or what its bolted to
well i supose its different for that bike then becos aerox is mounted to the waterpump cove and dosent touch the frame at all
i have only ever seen a frame crack on a chinky pit bike usialy its only the exhaust get some serious cracking due to stress as its the weakest part being made of like 2mm thick metal mount the exhaust with a rubber bush inbetween the zorst and the frame like most bikes come out of the factory with it will absorb the vibrations
where can i find one of these elsewhere online, including shipping is like £50 for a £17 part! www.rrd-preparation.com/en/accessories-and-various-parts-for-exhaust-minarelli-am6/5566-product-5566-3661251155016.html
i will take a picture tomorrow but the barrel is made with two little holes that the springs hook on to but the exhaust from my derbi is held on with a bolt on either side of the exhaust (where the current exhaust has hooks for the springs) can this exhaust go onto this bike?
cant you make it fit ie cut the bolt bits off and weld a small hoop on the exhaust ...but i dont know if there is such thing ...what barrel is it so i can have a look
rite iv had a look and it is a weird barrel isnt it lol... but you could just cut the bolt on bits off and put weld 2 hoops on it ...but i think the width would be too small ...its a bit of a bodge i know but in theory it should work...if it is wider nuff
