err whats that threaded thing between the pipe and cylinder?

the fact its not leaking and doesnt rattle ect is the main thing

hello bud, i had a quick google before hitting the garage to finsih the bike, the threaded thing is actually the new gasket, its not a thread.

Apparently some pipes use a flat washer and some use the style above which means the header doesnt sit flush with the head. Definatley cant feel a leak but i am concerened as to how tight i do it up! dont want to be stripping bolt holes!

hard to say how tight it should be...tbh it just needs to be tight enough to seal and not shake itself loose which varies from pipe to pipe. i like to do them up till the flange is just about to start to bend...if youre unsure put a bit of grease on the stud thread which will stop them stripping somewhat

a quick way that i check for manifold leaks is to put my thumb over the end of the pipe while its idling then give it a tiny rev for a second and if all is well it should die soon after and not be smoking from the engine ect. this is bad for the engine tho i think but its quick and easy and i dont think it does much damage it you only do it once

ive fitted a few of these (on piaggio engines) and only used a gasket (paper type) once with no problems so far. they seem to fit quite snug on to the bare barrel could easily be different on your engine tho

the exhausty has a flange that the gasket sits in, this flange extends from the pipe end a bit so it will never sit flush

i have heard a few people have modded the flange so you use a smaller gasket and sit it flush, but i can imagine this will make fitment an issue with the bracket etc

Generally with ZX's you are supposed to use flat "paper" gaskets and not the standard compression gasket. So I would do that if I was you.

Variator is stock, belt is a new kevlar polini belt, rollers at the moment are 3x 6gram and 3 x 6,5 grams as im still tinkering with weights.

i do run a leo vince pipe thoe which changed the powerband alot requiring a far different weight to the rollers
