Hi there I am looking to buy a delloroto carb for my speedfight as there is a gurtner fitted and it is a bugger to get parts for! I can't seem to find the exact dell carb I need or where to get it. If anyone know whats carb it is I need and has a link I would greatly appreciate it cheers
If it had one of those awful 12mm carbs a 17.5mm (PHVA or PHVB but alot of people dont know the model numbers for these as its not on the side..) as used of all the Piaggio 50s are a popular upgrade and will be a cheap step in the right direction. Could go up to a 21mm (PHBG or a gilera 125 carb but I'd go for a PHBG personally) but theres not many mods on a 100 that will need it and it will drink quite a bit. Theres no real 'ideal' carb tbh generally any carb that is said to be for a 2 stroke will be fine and will work as well as any other in theory, just make sure it has the right amount of inlets and outlets for your bike. Or if buying 2nd hand make sure everythings there as the individual small parts can easily cost up to what the carb set you back..
aye well I've been trying to find a replacement float bowl for mine but no joy! it's a gurtner and I've had no joy at all so I was wanting to put the next best one on not bothered about performance perks aslong as it makes the scooter go its fine! I'm just unsure on what size and type of carb and hoping to only be around the 50 quid mark! cheers for your advice will take it on board!
would this be right for a speedfight 2? only one i can seem to find that matches up http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/633/yamaha-aerox-carb--dellorto-175mm-phva
Yeah the gurtner carbs are said to be quite restrictive i think and good gains from a 17mm alone. That one should be fine. I reckon a manual choke too. The normal dellorto 19mm and 21mms are about the same price as the s6 ones so probs worth going for one of those if going any larger tbh I dont know what kind of filter your running aswell but if its stock airbox the hose to the carb might be a bit of a tight fit but shouldnt be too much of an issue I dont think. In fact speedfights have a different inlet dont they.. https://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/511/peugeot-inlet-manifold-rubber Something like that in needed too or there is an adapter that goes on the carb but its a bit pointless cos literally any other carb you fit will just need the same adapter
on the 100cc they use the 17.5mm phva stock - http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/633/yamaha-aerox-carb--dellorto-175mm-phva but a 21mm will make a big difference to the feel of the engine - http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/1120/stage6-dellorto-21mm-race-carb-black-edition the 21mm will not make it into a silly bike it will just make it feel more responsive and will give some top end power. this adaptor will let you fit any carb upto 21mm on your bike - http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/2...ptor-kit--peugeot-speedfight-vertical-engines but if you dont mind spending the extra cash i would get the big valve kit http://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/518/intake-inlet-manifold-system-stage6--peugeot-with-reeds
I did not see these replies thanks for your help guys I'm going to temporary repair my carb today I hope I'm hopefully ordering a spares gurtner py12 and when i've got the cash spare ill be upgrading the carb! thanks for your help
oh well! i know its a gurtner py and google suggests 12 but never mind! scooters running now! after my pal jack done some plastic welding! melted the crack together so it should do until my spare carb comes! which will hopefully tide me over until I get my stage 6 one
