Hi, just a simple question, i would like to fit a 70cc kit, it would be for the commute to work daily, i gather cast iron is more reliable, could someone who has more expierience, advise on a good package. with thanks. theoldboy.

Hey, Suppose a polini, mallosi cast iron kit would be ideal, 2 ringed piston.. Suppose it also depends on the oil and how you treat your engine.. I have had my St6 aluminum 70cc kit for 4k miles now? not let me down once :) I've always left it running for a good 5-10 minutes :)

Quite tricky to get an exhaust that fits under the ET2's body work however. ;)

go for something that is timmed up similarly to your stock pipe.. something like the polini iron, maybe even a mhr rep (fairly tame timmings) wont work stupidly badly with the stock pipe.. yes exhausts make power but using one of these kits with an otherwise stock engine will see good reliable gains wihtout changing the riding charictaristics of the bike. probably find it wont need anytrhing more than a bigger jet if its the only part you fit.

Hi, thinking of putting a 125 2t in, does anybody know which engines fit, but keeping the same wheels. thanks. theoldboy.

Advice given above on kits etc is what I'd personally be looking at and if you're local to The Bike Shop (Ped Parts) then pop down as they're good guys down there. :good:

As for the 125 2T idea, it's a nice one however it then becomes a whole new ball game. There's modification that needs to be done, wiring needs changing and that's just the tip of the ice berg. I'd recommend you stick with the 70 route. :)

Hi all, Gamble thanks for your replies, my thinking was a standard 125 2t would be more reliable than a tuned 70, i understand that a lot is involved in a conversion, could you lay out the basics of such a swap, so i could factor in difficulty vs cost. ( 70 > 125 ). many thanks. theoldboy.

ive done a few of these... you need ANY ac drum brake engine, (can use wc but it just causes more headach's and requires more parts)a loom (typhoon 125 is probably the best to go for) cdi, coil and a typhoon wheel to match the engine... you will also need a new rear tyre to fit onto the typh wheel to keep the stock apperance. it will also need a gear up to compensate for the smaller diameter from the low profile tyre.

your best bet is try and find a complete typh 125 to get all the bits in one go.. make sure its post 1997 tho (old engines are shit)

im not far from bristol :)
