    Can somebody explain this please...

Is it against the law to drive around on a bike that the engine numbers have been grinded off?

or is it illegal to drive around with the engine numbers intact but not matching the v5 logbook?

I did try to look for the pages and use the search but i couldn't find the posts that i remembered reading it from.

    thanks

it is illegal to drive around with engine numbers that don't match the log books deffinetly, funny but there are no laws on no engine numbers wat so ever, well thats wat i'v been told anyway.

file the plate flat and say you dont have a clue where the engine numbers are, no one checks on scooters, however i would never buy an engine with numbers missing because its encouraging people to steal scooters

as far as i can tell as long as its a like-for-like engine there shouldnt be a problem as the vehicle identity is on the chassis number

    that is a bit stereo-typical...

because say you had a bike with no engine numbers and wanted to sell the bike would you tell him...''nah mate don't buy my bike it ain't got engine numbers''

i can understand where your coming from wobbly but theres also other views/exceptions
