well i rode it to skool. then when i started it to go home it was fine, let it warm up for a couple of mins when i got my gear on. pulled off, but when it reached about 5k revs (revs required to move) it would like resist so i pulled the trottle a little more to get it to 6k...went up then would drop back to 5. anyway rode it for about 100 yards. stopped turned engine off. tryed to turn it on and it wouldnt, not even kick start. so i had to push it 3 fooking miles and it wasnt flat! i had a bore kit fitted tuesday 15th jan. i run it in not going over 30, keeping revs low, slowly pulling off, ect. it had done 130 miles. anyway anyone got any idea?? cheers shaun
Take the head off and look at the piston? Take the under panel off under the seat at the front what you use to get to your spark plug get a 10/8 rachet undo the 4 bolts take the head of and take pictures of the piston.
well took the spark plug out and cudnt get to the cylinder becuase of this theres a piece of plastic covering the cylinder and the two screws heads are fooked . i cant unscrew them
when i push kick start it does sound like the engine turns over (gives that sort of gur lug sound) but i have snapped a few teeth off the inside bit so i'll check. jst took off the airfilter to get to tranny and its soaked with petrol. not just smelling but wet, cus this mean anything?
maybe your petrol hose fell off? thats why it died and wouldnt start, hence leaving petrol all over your filter
nah checked that seems to be ok. i wouldnt of thought it would of spilled onto it becuase it would have to get inside the air box
well i got a new plug when i got the bore kit fitted so you wudnt of thought it would be broken already, and i could check the reeds but im not good at that sort of thing :emb: Edit: dont no much about engine siezure, but i took the spark plug out and turned the variator around and the piston head moved up and down. so i'm guessing if it is engine siezure i wont be able to do that or im i wrong?
well its deffinately not seized, while youve got the plug out, stick you finger over the spark plug hole, and get someone to turn the bike over with the kick start or the electric, is should blow your finger out, (it doesent hurt) then plug the spark plug onto the ht cap, but dont screw it into the cylinder, put the spark plug close to the frame , and again get someone to kick the engine over on the kick start or electric, you should see a spark jump from the spark plug to the frame, if they are both ok, then its just a fuel problem. check those and let us know what you find. tbh it sounds like reeds you say your not the kinda person to know about that, the only way you are going to learn is to do it yourself. thats how i learnt :nerd:
jesus, the last thing we need is another jamie... do as advised mate, also check that there is nothing loose around the motor, check all the electrical connections as well.
ok i did both those things and there ok, my finger was blown out and the spark plug sparked. so what is your idea about the fuel problem. i did put the old air filter in and kick started the bike a couple of times ( didnt start) and i checked the air filter and it was already quite wet from fuel. and i wud love to try to myself i just dont have the confidence to make sure its already again before i have to go to work, public transport is crap where i live. oh btw my spark plug was black doesnt that not mean the mixture is wrong? shaun
dont go thinking that it isnt plug becausde you had a new one not long ago i had a plug stop working in less than a day was a dodgy plug i think. just make sure it giving a strong spark.
i wasnted . anyway when the garage fitted the bore kit they kept the standard jet. and he said it was runnning ok with it in & come back in 250 miles to see how it was going. do you think its because it needs the bigger jet now? if it is the reeds, would the problem with them be fixable or would i need to buy some new ones?? shaun
sounds like its a heat sieze through too small a jet should never keep stock jetting with a bigger bore.
