hey guys, I recently got hold of a piaggio 172cc engine. Linked pics, and decided to put it into a zip frame as I have seen many other people try this. With the engine came the loom and the forks and all the other parts needed to put it into the frame. So all is good? No... The engine doesnt run as it is missing a kickstart pinion. I don't know which part I need to order because I'm not sure off which bike this engine belongs too. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks a lot. Hopefully soon I will be making a thread on building the bike up. Ps. I will upload a photo off the engine without the side casing when I am home from work.
Aprillia rolling nut motor seen that motor on shiney red tuning page : http://www.shiny-red.net/our-services-1/rebuilds-porting/
I see well I am looking for a kickstart but for the variatior. I believe so anyway, I am not too familiar with automatic bikes. But basically the part which the kickstart assembly catches when kicking the bike over. So I should be looking for aprilia not piaggio
been doing a bit of research, the motor is very much like a aprillia rolling nut, but some sear4ches have thrown up a Gilera runner 125cc motor and to be very honest the runner side case looks exactly like that one you have. im gonna hedge a bet its not an aprillia but more so a gilera runner motor, have a look on this older scootershack thread Post 6 and you will see the runner variator casing it looks just like that one you have : https://www.scootershack.co.uk/threads/gilera-runner-172-new-project-page-2-now-d.20548/
