Hi my nrg has several electrical problems such as front indicators are not working, led brake light does not work and horn doesnt work i have a few ideas such as indicators and brake has wiring problem and i think its just the horn which doesnt work. but im not an electrican so was wondering what people think
do the rear indis light up? replace the led for a normal bub(as a test) test the horn on the battery. check all the fuses
check and clean front indi connections, swap the bulbs from the back ones to the front ones.check the wiring visually.
if it can help the head light and tail light run on the coil/magneto whilst the indicators, brake light and horn run on the battery. So if your horn and indicators dont work its the battery!! charge the battery/ or get another charged battery and try again!!! and check if your battery is charging by mesuring the voltage on the battery, it should be between 13.8 and 14.5 V, at 5000 rpm!! if lower or rarely higher change the regular rectifier !!! Note: only do the regulator rectifier test if the battery is charged and reads 12v or more before putting it in the bike!!!
cheers numanoid will try that out well i dont think its the battery as i had to recently replace my old one and its doing exactly the same as when the old battery work. but cheers anyways
first off all clean connectors, check for obvious breaks in wires/ resistance of cables. and if your headlight and tail work check the output on the regulator rectifier to your battery. Get a haynes and look it up!!! the battery is charged by the regulator rectifier which turns ac to dc to charge your batery!!! if the bike is running it should charge your battery!!! i have a similar problem today where my headlight and tail light werent workin because my regulator rectifier was outputing 1v instead of 12v dc and had 12v ac input so i changed the reg/rec and and it sorted the problem !!! Note the reg/rec also converts the power from the coil to charge the battery so if battery readin doesnt go up when you accelerate then its blown !!!
if you have no power at all when the engine is workin and if your getting your 14ac from the generator then change your regulator rectifier as the reg/rec isnt convertin 12v ac to dc!!! and get your self a haynes!!! it says all of this in the haynes!!
cheers for all your help in the end didnt need to do any of it the mechanic sorted all the problems for me even though he told me he wasnt going to cheers for all your help again tom
