got a lexmoto 125 in today lad just bought it and wanted it fixed up . only a year old but not been looked after the lad said it would not start, anyway took the fuse out and turned the ignition on to test the battery when the rectifier started smoking quickly disconnected the battery disconnected the rectifier put a fuse back in and the bike started on the button but the head light was just a glimmer one front indicator did not work but the rest worked fine how can the starter work with out a fuse in the line the fuse holder was laying open
Might get a warranty claim with the rectifier gone seeing as its only a year old. Is there a 30amp fuse on the starter relay itself. The in-line fuse is probably just a circuit protection for the rest of the electrics.
also the speedo works off the front wheel but the speedo needle is stuck right over to the right at 100 mph
@Stevep ..... would there be a fuse on my relay? If so do you think that could be the mysterious problem? (sorry to jack thread its one of those EUREKA! moments)
Take the petrol tank off to check all electrical plugs/joints, I had one where the indicator relay had one wire worn through touching down to earth!
that's my next move but how does the power get from the battery to the starter if you take the main fuse away
If it's been tampered with in its short life, someone could well have shorted the start circuit somewhere. Provided of course there isn't another fuse hidden somewhere. Can you remember what rating the fuse was you took out?
you were right steve it has a starter relay like your picture still cant figure out how the speedo needle got over to 100 mph and stuck there
Knackered internal worm gears maybe. Might be worth having the back off the clocks to see if they've been tampered with at all. One problem solved though
