Noticed quite frequently when looking for parts on fleabay, that you can get pretty much anything for alot of bikes.but no frames -
Just happened to see a breakers selling a host of parts for 1 model i have, but apparently the frame was seized due to riding without insurance & the rest sold to a breakers.....

usually cat B frames get chopped up but parts like fairings and bits can be resold if not damaged.
other reasons are ringers if the frames a ringer its seized and chopped up so it cannot return to the road, what folks do is remove or restamp a frame with a legal number then sell it on, you cnat have a bike carrying the same two vins so ones a hooky and its gonna get sent to the jaws of death

    I beg to differ.
When I bought my zzr1100 from the isle of man, it had to be registered in the UK, which meant an inspection.
I took it for inspection and they found that there were 2 zzr1100's in this country with the same frame number and on the same year.
This triggered a police vehicle inspection obviously.
I contacted them, asked them if they wanted me to take the bike to them or would they like to come here to me, where i could have the panels off and all laid out so they could see everything clearly.
    They came to me.
After 2 hours of checking everything, they declared it legal and above board, and put the paperwork back to dvla.
DVLA then registered my bike on a 1990 plate instead of a 1992 plate just so they could distinguish them apart, then just happened to drop out that manufacturers do indeed duplicate frame numbers if they are 99% sure that the vehicle will not hit the shores of another country in it's expected lifetime.
My zed was made for the USA market, but found it's way to the isle of man, then to the uk.
7 weeks later I was tearing up the tarmac.:D

I was wondering about this a few days ago, think about it, cubs.
80 million sold. How many characters is a frame number 11? There must be duplicates around...
