I managed to replace the drive belt (Sinnis Strada 125cc)and get everything back together today, including all the cowling. Before putting the cover back on, I noticed that the belt hadn't fully risen on the clutch pulley.

I thought this would be ok and assumed it would all right itself once I start it up.

Unfortunately I was wrong. With the bike on the stand it doesn't like idling over and runs a bit lumpy. I increase the revs and as the back shell gets up to the correct speed, everything feels ok again. I can ride the bike as it won't pull away. It just shudders.

Please don't tell me I have to take it all apart again

    Any advice.

It could be a weak contra spring (the spring that makes the pulley close up again) on the clutch. What is more common on scooters is that there are pins that run in tracks inside the clutch that start to 'stick' from lack of lubrication. I'm afraid that you'll need to take the cover off again, take of the clutch and dismantle it to re-lubricate the tracks that the pins run in. You'll need either copper anti-seize grease (small tubes are cheap enough from Halfrauds) or moly disulphide grease (less common to find but better overall). Either way, DON'T use any other type of grease, as it has to be the type that doesn't melt when hot (bentone type).
