Hello. My moped starts and runs good. 50cc 2 stroke. I got a problem with it drinking petrol like crazy tho. When I'm rideing at full throttle my exhaust is blowing blue smoke and it stinks of petrol and if I rub my finger on the end of my exhaust tip its showing fresh black wet stuff on my finger. Even when I've been doing long distance its still showing blue smoke at full throttle. Any thorts guys? Thanks

Yeah i see what your saying. It dose stink of burning 2 stroke. Well the guy who i got it off said the piston rings got changed just the piston rings. So i think the cylinder scored .

    None.
never listen to what a previous owner tells you as a rule.
IF rings have been done they still need to be run in.
hopefully one of the more knowledgable members will be along soon.

    Hi Ashley
    questions!
what kind of scoot is it
does it have a stock airbox or an after market filter
does it pull well or do you basically tank around at full throttle
is the engine revving high or low/ middle- ish
    ?

Sym city hopper 50cc 2 stroke. Stock air filter but its missing the foam inside so I removed the air box completly today and went for a ride and it stopped smoking and the engine did not bog ether so I recon buy the foam put it in the airbox and buy a pack of jets and have a play till I get it right because from what it looks like someone has up jetted way to much???? .... Tomorrow at some point I'm going to remove the carb and see what size jet it has. Then I'll reply on here :)

I would suggest your theory is correct - because normally if you remove the filter from the machine without radically upjetting, you seize the engine:eek: if you then take it for a ride and go anywhere near full throttle.
Don't try this at home, kids !

too small for filterless running. Possibly too big with the filter. I'd replace the filter, put the airbox back on and down jet by 5 points to see what that does, keeping an eye on the spark plug.

Okay I'll give that ago thank you for helping me :) I know this is going to sound stupid but my main jet is 75 so what size would it be if I down jet by 5????

Hello agen :). I put an air filter foam in the air box because it dident have one rember and it runs better and it dose not smoke anymore only when shes cold but that's normal. But im going to keep an eye on the spark plug :p
