my bike drinks petrol at an alarming rate, im going through over a fiver a day. ive got a few tuning parts on it, and i know this makes economy worse but mates with similar setups drink nowhere near as much as i do. the jetting is pretty much spot on i think, and if anything its more lean than rich. also i notice there is a lot of petrol leaking from the airbox after a ride. any ideas what could be the cause?
what tuning parts have you got on it ? could it be your riding style, riding everywhere full throttle, constantly blipping the throttle all the time...
the stuff i have on is: leo vince tt (upjetted to suit), 17.5mm carb, enki v reed kit, transmittion is all malossi apart from clutch with stiffer springs, malossi red sponge insert. i do like to ride quickly, but so does everyone i know yet i use way more. i also noticed there is an oily substance on the expansion chamber around where the exhaust tip is.
the fuel is probably comming out of the carb when your riding along.. whenever i notice a severe drop in mph its usually down to a fucked fuel tap and float (meaning your fuel is just pissing out of your bike onto the road) its common for piaggio fuel taps/stock carbs as there shit..change your fuel tap and check the float is shutting fuel off... the float could be the problem but not showing itself untill the engine is running (ie the tap opens and the fuel just go's into the carb then overflows) best bet is look at the carb/under the carb for any sign of leaking (clean spots on the bottom of the carb) also, you can bang some oil in the fuel,. start your bike up and leave it ideling on the stand.... the fuel will evaporate prittymuch as soon a it touches the ground if its a slow drip, the oil wont tho and will leqave an obvious spot on the floor directly under where the fuel is dripping from.
