Hi, I'm having some issues with my Dragster and I was hoping someone more technically minded than me could give me some ideas on what the problem could be. It's a ported PM 172 kitted engine with a OKO 30mm flatslide with big Stage 6 filter, Malossi multivar and gearing kit, and just a Scorpion exhaust. It has lost a bit of power overall, but still goes ok from a standing start. If I just totally open the throttle from standing it still goes pretty well, accelerates well and does a decent top speed. The problem happens if I am at full throttle then ease off and back on the power. It also happens if I'm just cruising, but then try open it up to overtake or something. Instead of reving nice and high it just goes really low and makes a dull sound while accelerating much more slowly than usual. It definitely happens more if I am going up a slight slope, don't really notice it much if I'm on the flat. It makes a huge difference to the top speed, I normally have no trouble getting a speedo speed of between 90 - 100mph, but when this happens it's struggling to hit 70. I know the speedos aren't accurate, but it shows the level of speed it's losing. All I have done so far is cleaned the carb and the filter and replaced the plug. It ran a little nicer, but hasen't done anything for this issue. I would really appreciate it if someone could just give me some ideas of what to look at. As I said, power from standing is ok, just has no turn of pace if I go off and back on the throttle. Cheers, Chris. Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Since the rebuild it's done a little over 3000 miles. My next port of call will be to check the transmission and see if everything's ok in there. If you have any suggestions of what could be causing this that would be great. I think I might get another exhaust while I'm messing, imagine that a proper power pipe would be more suited than the Scorp. Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
If it worked fine when it was built so the carb was all setup properly etc then I'd be looking for wear in transmission parts. Rollers could easily have serious flat spots after 3000 miles on a ported bike. It really could do with a better exhaust but that's something different all together.
Cheers for the reply tErr0. I'll get the case off tomorrow and see what I find in there. I was hoping it would just be something transmission related, but I'm no expert and wanted to ask people who know more than me. I'll post what I find. Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
