downsides of an up gear

hi guys thinking of going for an up gear kit because i find im screwing it flat out and dont wanna hurt my ped ive heard people on posts saying there peds carnt 'handle' a large percentage upgear but surley if the transmission is set up tight and well it shouldnt make a difference to the acceleration , in this case i was going to go full whack and get a 33% one but before i order im just checking

 

just to add by 33% is that a 33% extra on the top speed or final drive ratio
